Whirlpool : GU3100XTVQ 24 Full Console Dishwasher with 5 Wash Cycles White
The solution to the beeping
Here is the solution to the beeping. Make sure you disconnect the dishwasher power (Whirlpool model GU3100XTVQ) at the breaker before attempting any of this. Read the whole thing, & if you are not confident enough to try this fix, get a friend to help. I am posting this to hopefully relieve someone else of the very annoying beeping that was driving me and my dog nuts, since it makes the same noise as the invisible fence that he doesn't like.

Position a stool beside the dishwasher, or something equal in height to use as a work surface. Make sure the electrical breaker is off. Open the dishwasher door and remove the six screws that are directly behind the control panel. Don't let the screws fall inside the dishwasher. Carefully set the screws aside as you will be coming across two different sizes.

The control panel of the dishwasher should then be lifted out of position from the face of the door, then while holding the panel close the door a little and rest the...

Constant annoying Beep when door is open!
I've only had this dishwasher a week and it is already driving me nuts!! It has an annoying beep that sounds every 90 seconds when the door is open. So I'm getting beeped at while I'm trying to rinse and load. And just forget about leaving the door open for additional air drying time! REALLY, TRULY, STUPID! The manual doesn't mention this beeping feature at all so you can't even look up what it is supposed to be warning you about. I contacted customer support and they said there is no way to turn off the beep and not even a repairperson could stop it and I'll just have to live with it. Not a satisfactory answer to me. AND because you have to shut the door all the way to stop the beeping, the upper rack couples/attaches to the water hose and so every time you have to give the upper rack a good yank to get it to slide out and all the glasses get knocked over. I think the engineer who designed this dishwasher has never actually had to do the dishes at his house or these design flaws...

constant beeping, racks fall apart
I have never hated an inanimate object before, but I hate this dishwasher. It is maddening. As other reviewers have noted, it beeps every minute or two when the door is open or ajar. There is nothing you can do to stop it. We picked this dishwasher because it was low, because we have reduced space between the counter top and a floor that went on top of an older floor. It is an ADA compliant dishwasher, and I believe the beeping is to warn blind people that it is open. But there is no way to turn the beeping off. I called customer service, and they had no suggestions. I offered to pay a repair guy to clip the right wire, but he said there was no way.

After about a year, I stopped hearing the beeping quite so much. But by then, the racks had started to fall apart. The top rack is continually off of the runner, and I am daily reattaching wheels that attach the rack. The silverware basket also falls apart and breaks easily.

Being this annoying is an impressive...

Samsung DMT300RFB 24 Built-In Dishwasher - Black

Samsung DMT300RFB 24 Built-In Dishwasher - Black

Samsung DMT300RFB 24 Built-In Dishwasher - Black
Bought based on feature-set for price, but very happy with performance as well.
We looked at quite a few dishwashers and wanted one with a stainless interior and an angled top basket. The angled top basket is a great feature and gives you quite a bit of flexibility in loading plastic stuff that may not normally fit in a standard basket.
I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post our purchase place and price but it was a couple hundred cheaper locally than they are currently being sold on here in the marketplace.

I read the reviews here and, while discouraging, I more or less dismissed them because I suspected that the review pool suffered from selection bias. I do NOT mean to dismiss or trivialize the other reviewers experiences. I believe that they have indeed had bad experiences with their purchases and that is certainly regrettable. My experience has been great, and I'm glad I bought it.

Quite frankly I think that I myself would be much more likely to review a dishwasher if it gave me a negative experience than if it worked fine and as...

HORRIBLE WORST EVER!!
We bought this in July, 2010 and promptly went on an extended vacation. When we returned home, it was past 30 days until we finally got to use it. Lo and behold it is the WORST dishwasher EVER!!!!! We bought it from Best Buy after explaining that we have teenagers who don't rinse the dishes and do a lousy job of loading. We were pointed toward this one. I did some research with Consumer Reports, and everything seemed to back up the Best Buy person's recommendation --- WRONG!!!! We've had this dishwasher for 7 months now, and I'm anxious to replace it. I have to use 3-4 times the amount of detergent to even HOPE to get dishes clean, run it through sometimes 5 cycles before they get somewhat clean, or just give up and hand wash the dishes. DO NOT BUY THIS PIECE OF TRASH!!!! Samsung should be ashamed. Samsung sent out a repair person, but no luck. Beat Buy sent out 3 repair people, but (and I couldn't believe this) 2 of the 3 ONLY TRIED TO GIVE ME DISHWASHER USAGE...

Worst Dishwasher Ever
I purchased this dishwasher for $150 more than the one I was originally considering because I thought that (a) Samsung makes good products, (b) the features offered were good for the money, and (c) you get what you pay for right? We couldn't have been more wrong. This dishwasher first of all, has a controls problem. My wife regularly leans up against the counter. With the fancy curved top area, the buttons extended just beyond the counter's edge, and she shuts it off on a regular basis. That's a wife problem yes, but still a problem that we didn't have with more recessed or touch-pad models. If that was our only problem, we'd consider it still a decent purchase. The fact that this washer has problems washing, rinsing, and otherwise making your dishes safe for use (i.e. no caustic soap left over in glasses, etc.) has made it the biggest money sink I've ever had the displeasure of investing in. Soap is CAKED down the door. It comes out either too late in the process, or this...

Bosch SHX98M09UC 800 24" Stainless Steel Semi Integrated Dishwasher - Energy Star

Bosch SHX98M09UC 800 24" Stainless Steel Semi Integrated Dishwasher - Energy Star

Bosch SHX98M09UC 800 24
Quietest and most efficient dishwasher made
Every year my wife and I buy something for the house as an anniversary present to each other. This year we decided to replace our aging GE Potscrubber 900 dishwasher.

I research the heck out of major purchases, and one of my friends used to work at an appliance store, so I quickly found Bosch had possibly the best reputation for dishwashers.

After deciding to go with Bosch, it was just a question of which model.

After looking over the choices, it boiled down to this one, or one model below. This one was quieter, and more energy efficient. Electric rates in Connecticut are high enough that I expect to make up the cost difference between the two models with electricity savings.

So much for how I got here. Here's information from using it:

It's incredibly quiet - the "noise level" when it's running is about what you'd expect from a new refrigerator. Noise is not going to be a reason to postpone running this one.

The...

Beware Bosch
Looks good and is so quiet it has a little red LED that shiones on the floor to let you know that it is washing.

BUT...
Bosch customer service is horrible. The worst I have come across in 52 years.

The electronics are failure prone. We have had the dishwasher for 3 years and have had the control module fail 3 times. Each time it took a minimum of 3 service visits to get it replaced. The excuse we have heard each time is that Bosch dishwashers are relatively unknown and the parts are hard to get. The first time the electronics failed, it took 3 MONTHS to get it repaired and we are in a major metro area with a population of 4 million.

We will not purchase a Bosch dishwasher again, and when it fails next, we will buy CR's top rated Kenmore, which ios $1,000 cheaper and apparently much more reliable.

It wasn't worth the money
We remodeled our kitchen and purchased this particular Bosch because it seemed like a great machine and there were some good reviews - I decided to ignore the bad reviews thinking the complainers were just unhappy people. Well, now it is 3 months later and my dishes are not drying, the door is not functioning (it's floppy), and it is leaking all over my hardwood floors! (sorry complainers, i should have listened) I suspect all of these problems are related to each other, because it makes sense logically, but getting someone to come out and fix it has been awful - and I live in the Metro DC area where you would think there'd be a lot of companies who would service Bosch when they are under warranty. Apparently many of the companies don't like to take warranty work (i'm sure the fee schedule is not very good for them) so its been a challenge. Only one company has been somewhat polite to me while I seek repair, and I'm going with them. In addition, and not related to the fact that it is...

Maytag MDB7749SBM JetClean Plus 24" Stainless Steel Full Console Dishwasher - Energy Star

Maytag MDB7749SBM JetClean Plus 24" Stainless Steel Full Console Dishwasher - Energy Star

Maytag MDB7749SBM JetClean Plus 24
Excellent @ 3 Months
Obviously the 1 and 2 year reviews are more important, but at 3 months it's going strong and we really like this dishwasher. We got this appliance through a mix-up; we'd ordered the MDB7749SAM, which arrived with a bent hinge. We returned it and were informed the MDB7749SAM was no longer available (as of Feb 2013) so the newer MDB7749SBM was substituted.

It's a fine machine, easily the best dishwasher we've owned to date. Installed it myself, was straightforward, no leaks (after a month of checking), good instructions on how to install. All hookups were reasonably easy to reach toward the front of the machine. The insulation around the machine is voluminous! Especially behind the apron. Which makes for an exceedingly quiet machine. Cleaning power is impressive. The instructions "persuaded" us to start using a liquid rinse product. The combination of the new powerful machine with the liquid rinse product means we're seeing the cleanest dishes and glasses we've ever had...by...
