Not the Miele of the past
We just purchased this dishwasher as part of a kitchen upgrade. We've owned Miele appliances for about 20 years and this our sixth dishwasher. The old was was fine, the new one was purchased as we went to all stainless appliances.

Versus our 8 year old one:

Construction quality is way down. The thin stainless skin is mounted on a piece of plastic (at least by the handle) and the two surfaces rub against easy other and squeak every time you open the door. Nice touch Miele. There are gaps in the door face. The door is mounted on a flexible plastic bellows that is never in alignment and slips out of its groove constantly, creating a bulge in the plastic.

The interior racks have been redesigned. Forget about putting anything thicker than a Corelle plate between the stiles. They are also a fraction of the size of the old ones and bend with any weight placed between them or on them.

Best dishwashers made but will Miele stand behind them ?
We love the Miele Dimension Plus G5705SC that we bought through a local dealer in January 2013. I can't speak to the changes mentioned in the previous review, but our Miele fits all our dishes and washes them magnificently. And we love the door popping open after drying is done--I don't know any other dishwasher that can do that. But I suggest not trying to get an extended warranty. I bought a Miele extended warranty through our dealer when we bought the dishwasher, and two months later the dealer gave me a full refund of the warranty. Why? Miele customer service insisted the warranty was not valid, and Miele would not work with me or the dealer to correct this. Perhaps the dealer was at fault; I don't know. But Miele never responded to my e-mails, and they were dismissive of me when I called.
