Bosch SHE9ER55UC 800 Plus 24" Stainless Steel Semi Integrated Dishwasher - Energy Star

Bosch SHE9ER55UC 800 Plus 24" Stainless Steel Semi Integrated Dishwasher - Energy Star

Bosch SHE9ER55UC 800 Plus 24
WORST EXPERIENCE EVER
I purchased this dishwasher a little over 2 months ago, When it was brought in was dented and a piece was broken. Also a very funky nasty smell came from it. And it just got worst and worst. I contacted the dealer HC COST (thru AMAZON.COM) and they sent a technician to inspected. He had never seen this model before and had no clue of what was wrong, before he left he wanted me to pay him for the inspection!!!!!! The problem was still there and HC COST told me they would send a BOSCH technician to inspected. They sent another tech, not from BOSCH, from the same company. He did not know what was wrong and suggested i had a plumber looking at it and if there was no plumbing issues to call BOSCH directly to get a new one. I called a plumber, actually 2 plumbers, and they both agreed it was installed properly and there was nothing wrong with drain lines. They suggested using vinegar. The odor did not go away. Called back HC COST and they said BOSCH was going to send a new unit. I have an...

Rusts on the inside; stains on the outside
Two years after purchasing Bosch's "stainless" steel "rust-free" dishwasher with a "lifetime warranty" against rust, we discovered... rust. It was in a very specific area, where the metal filter attaches to the interior tub. We called Bosch and were told that it was our fault, that it was our water, our dishwasher soap, our flatware--anything but the dishwasher. We persisted, explaining that we use a water softener and a reverse-osmosis system and that our water is no worse, and probably a bit better, than average. Furthermore, if it was merely our water, then we would expect to see rust everywhere. As for our dishwasher soap--well--it comes from Costco, and I'm sure they'd take exception to Bosch's claim that it promotes rust.

We offered our own theory, which is that the metal used in the filter is dissimilar to the metal in the tub, resulting in a galvanic reaction and corrosion to the metals. Basically, the two different metals, pressed together in an aqueous...

Expensive peace of mind
This is less of a dishwasher review than a warning. About 20 years ago I purchased a Kenmore portable dishwasher and converted it to built in when I got the space.

For 20 years it did an adequate job of dish washing. Maybe ot so silent, it had all the needed features and the biggest problem seemed to be putting any of two sets of dinner plates in the washer because you could only fit two along the side or they hit the spin arms.

So why not spend another $400-600 and get a similar models. I might have considered it until the day it caught fire. Rather than go into all the detail, do a google on "dishwasher fires" and you will see numerous accounts of dishwashers that sponataneously had their circuit boards combust without reason or warning (and you always waited to do the dishes so if there was a flood, you'd be home to stop it. Did you ever imagine it would burst into flames without warning.

I was in bed when mine caught fire. If I hadn't gotten up to...

Quiet Dishwasher Gets the Job Done!
This dishwasher came with my new house and overall, I am very pleased with it. The design is sleek and the controls and features are easy to use. It's quieter than I expected, probably the quietest one I have owned yet. It washes dishes well . My only complaints are that the top rack could be a little lower, allowing for taller glasses and other items. Also, the silverware tray design is awkward. Nothing really fits well in it but it is useable. Overall, I am pleased with the product.

With ENERGY STAR ® and CEE Tier 1 qualifications, this dishwasher exceeds federal minimum energy efficiency standards by more than 15% and may qualify for rebates. GE Profile : PDWT580RSS 24 Built-In Dishwasher - Stainless Steel
LOVE this dishwasher!
I honestly have no idea what these bad reviews are all about. Since most say they came with the house, I think they've reviewed the wrong product because NO builder installs a dishwasher this expensive as part of the "package." They get a cheapie and I'm sure that's what they're talking about since this is the first d/w that comes up in a search on Amazon for GE Profile. GE does make a "builder grade" GE Profile dishwasher, had one myself and it is atrocious. But,THIS ISN'T THAT DISHWASHER! Check out this item number and again, NO builder, unless you're building a million dollar home, will put this one in as "standard."

That aside, this is hands down, the best dishwasher I've ever owned! It washes everything right the first time, you can NEVER hear the thing running, and it's one of the best rated dishwashers by Consumer Reports. I did a ton of research before buying and this one, couple with the positive reviews on other websites where people actually take the time to...

quick delivery for self installation
We ordered this on Saturday of President's Day weekend and got a phone call that Monday night to schedule a delivery Tuesday or Wednesday. The vendor service was excellent.

I don't know if I'd recommend self installation unless you are mechanically inclined. The unit just fit under the counter and was otherwise a VERY tight squeeze compared to the GE it replaced. That extra capacity has to come from somewhere. Fortunately, there was a tile floor under the unit at the same hight as our hardwood, because I've heard that sometimes floor installers manage to box in the dishwasher during a kitchen remodel and you have to pop the countertop!

The GE Profile is very quiet. Had friends over and they didn't realize it was running in the kitchen until we heard the rinse cycle draining. We're very happy with the results.

Think Twice Doesn't clean well
My spouse and I purchased this in spite of a couple reservations due to previous reviews. We had other GE profile appliances and were happy with those. When the appliance was received, it was damaged. We didn't want to install since it was damaged and unsure what the fix would be. When I called GE I was told it would have to be installed before they would send someone out so called the third party AJ Madison instead. They set up for a GE repairman to come out. He said it was factory damaged and would need to be replaced. (And I didn't have to install to get this answer). The new dishwasher came quickly and was installed.
However, now that it is installed I am NOT HAPPY with the unit. The racks are such that the dishes move around when sliding bottom rack in and out and have to continuously rearrange the dishes. When using the manual detergent dispenser the cleaning was more or less OK but decided to test the dispenser for holding a full bottle of detergent. I rinsed the...

Easily and safely load and unload your dishware from this dishwasher, thanks to the ball-tipped, fold-down tines in the upper and lower racks, the Easy-Glide roller system and 2 upper utility shelves with StemSafe.

POOR QUALITY
Purchased this dishwasher 2 months ago. I am now on the 4th service call and it has not been repaired. KitchenAid just says they are sorry and their local service company will be there to fix. The local service company (A&E Factory Service) has been to fix it 4 times now. Each time, they try to fix and have to order a different part. Then it will be ANOTHER 7 DAYS before they can come back due to scheduling. Very frustrated. DO NOT BUY THIS DISHWASHER!

Dishes get clean but top rack does not roll in and out well
Dishes get clean but top rack does not roll in and out well. It feels like its going to break every time I push the rack in or out.

For a Kitchenaid, I expected a higher level of quality in this regard.

On the upside, it gets the dishes clean and it's quite.

Experience exceptional wash and dry performance that delivers better results (combined wash and dry results of leading premium brands' highest MSRP models; dry testing conducted without rinse aid). A Heat Dry option helps ensure dishes are dry when the cycle ends.

  • The Fully Integrated Console Design features a sleek design that will blend into any kitchen with hidden controls and the Architect II Series design and handle
  • Stainless steel interior retains heat for better drying performance while resisting wear over time
  • The Heat Dry option delivers faster and more complete drying by activating a recessed heating element during the drying cycle.
  • Fold-down tines in the lower rack improve cleaning performance by keeping tines out of the way, allowing water to clean inside deep or wide dishes.
  • The two-position upper rack has manual adjusters that allow the rack to move up or down as needed, and the SatinGlide(R) System allows the rack to move effortlessly.

Whirlpool WDF730PAYM Gold 24
Quite, Attractive, Well Designed
The "Whirlpool Gold Series WDF730PAYM" is designed to fit is standard 24" built-in under-the-counter dishwasher opening and it fit into our opening rather nicely some adjustments were made. The stainless steel unit is attractive, and relatively easy to use and operate and the features are nice especially the PowerScour (one of the reasons we chose this unit), which is designed to get stuck-on and or dried food off casserole dishes; and the delayed time start (another reason we chose this unit).

Another reason we choose this unit was the attractive design. We liked having the controls on the front of the door and not the top where most manufactures seem to be placing them. We found this to be inconvenient, especially if you want to make (control) changes without having to open the door to get to the controls.

For a little more green we could have opted for the stainless steel tub, but then the controls switched to the top of the door. We wanted the controls on...

Quality Dishwasher
1. The purchase process and delivery was flawless. Very pleased with the process.
2. Installation went well.
3. This dishwasher is even quieter than I expected from the reviews.
4. So far it cleans very well. I am still trying the different settings to see which works well for which conditions.
5. I love the adjustable upper rack, but still getting familiar with the door silverware basket and how to load it with our "normal use" dishes, but that is true with any new appliance.
6. I would purchase this machine again from the same retailer.

Big disappointment
Product is 2 years old and I have spent $286 to repair. Fuse blew twice due to defect that was not recalled. Service horrible.

Whirlpool dishwasher WDT910SAYM
This dishwasher is only 3 years old and the fuse is burned out and the control panel has to be replaced. This service will cost as much as getting a new one. Also, the cycles take way too long. Don't buy this. Is nice looking, but this is not a good choice.

GE GSM1800NWW Spacemaker 18" White Full Console Dishwasher - Energy Star

GE GSM1800NWW Spacemaker 18
Barely acceptable
It's better than nothing, but not by as much as I'd hoped.

On the positive side, it runs well, is not too loud, and fits in a small kitchen. Sometimes it even cleans its contents well.

However, it has very few spaces in which you can put anything other than plates and silverware. Even cereal bowls are hard to fit, let alone pots, mixing bowls, or storage containers.

Worse, it doesn't reliably clean the contents. I frequently find items with food or dried dishwashing powder still on them. It's possible that might be alleviated by using liquid detergent instead (which I plan to try), but when you consider the fact that the whole point of the appliance is to clean dishes, its failure to do so is pretty damning.

It might be an acceptable (though probably still not good) dishwasher for someone who mostly eats take-out and preprepared food. If you cook at all, I wouldn't recommend it. Unfortunately there aren't many options for an 18" dishwasher,...

CLEAN THE CRUD
2 things i found about this dishwasher, you need to twist the holding mechanism and remove the spray bar for the top rack and clean the dirt out of the spray bar bearing seats otherwise the spray bar wont turn freely. Water pressure has no bearing on how this spray bar turns as the pressure is made from the internal pump and not from city water pressure.

the bottom spray bar can be removed just by pulling up on it and then you can clean the bearing surface easily.

try turning the spray bars, if they are hard to turn you got dirt in the bearings.

periodically while washing open the washer and pour in a cup of bleach, it will keep the mold from growing in the spray bars also.

mine works well, but I do clean the spraybar bearing surfaces about every month.

also there is a large filter in the bottom to keep glass and hard things out of the pump, this needs to be cleaned every month
by unscrewing the large plastic housing and...

Best dishwasher we've had in years that actually CLEANS
Don't be scared off by the negative reviews because we are THRILLED with this dishwasher!

Our dishwasher of 5 years recently died and we really wanted one that would LAST this time. I did a ton of online research (and interviewed some friends concerning their experiences with dishwashers) and found that the Bosch brand is one of the best as far as longevity. We got this one from the Ascenta series because it was one of the most affordable models.

I'm so glad we got it. My husband was able to install it himself without any problems. We've had it for several months (UPDATE: We've had it for nearly a year) and haven't had ANY issues. It looks nice (and the exterior doesn't seem to pick up tons of fingerprints, etc.). It has plenty of settings without being overwhelming: Heavy wash, auto wash, normal wash and half load. You also have the option to sanitize the dishes with a super hot rinse. There is a button to turn it on and off and lights that tell you if an active...

Good water pressure needed for clean dishes
I would strongly agree with the previous rating. We purchased this dishwasher about 4 months ago and we have had the same problems. Sometimes the soap never leaves the dispenser and the top rack is always dirty. I found that rinsed plates on the bottom will come clean as well as the silverware, but anything plastic will have a film of soap (if dispensed during cycle) or greasy film from other dishes. It probably is a water pressure issue, but that doesn't help us get dishes clean now. Maybe the manual should give a recommended spi for this machine to work properly.

I purchased this dishwasher on July 23, 2012. I picked it up at the store on August 3rd. Today is October 8th and it no longer works. I asked Whirlpool if they would take it back because it was so new. They said no. I will be taking a day off from work this week so that it can be repaired. I wish Whirlpool still made quality products.

Not a good product
We bought this product about 2 months ago. It does not clean well at all. If we only use the top rack the dishes will almost get clean. The heated dry setting doesn't dry. The dishes are still wet after the cycle. We've tried all the different settings with the same result. Might want to pass this one by.

Miele Futura Diamond Series G5915SCi. Most Silent (Q5) , Unfinished/Requires Custom Panel

Miele Futura Diamond Series G5915SCi. Most Silent (Q5) , Unfinished/Requires Custom Panel
Silent, Beautiful, and Expensive
After 19 years of perfect service, our old Miele dishwasher retired. This time we decided to buy their top of the line model hoping for another 19 years. I installed it myself, and it went in beautifully. They supply adaptors to fit virtually any size integrated panel, and it was extremely simple to attach. This product wreaks of quality. Check out the website for all the specs. It is impressive. Having a light inside is really nice.

3 Cons:

1. Installation requires a Torx screwdriver.
2. There are no written installation instructions. Just drawings. I am an engineer and drawings are simply not enough. There are too many installation options to rely only on a sequence of sketches.
3. When the first wash was complete, the door automatically opens for drying. A plastic bar holds the door about 3 inches ajar. Unfortunately, the bar does not retract and you cannot open the door. Miele support told us to just give the door a good tug to open it...

after first use, door stays ajar
We just had a new mile dishwasher installed, and had the same issue, about the door being stuck in the open position. called tech support, they were very helpful, and my waiting time on the phone was less than 30 seconds. They also told me to be assertive and pull the door AWAY from the arm piece attaching it, and that it would get easier over time......so i'm doing another load. Glad it was a simple problem. Would have been nice if the "authorized" installers were a little more knowledgable, they made me feel very uncertain about a great product.

stalls in the middle of cycles
I've owned this dishwasher for about a year and a half, and for the most part it has performed very well. However, recently it seems to like to stall in the middle of its cycles for no reason. The knob just stops turning while it's on, so it may keep running "in place" and won't progress beyond that point. We haven't had it serviced yet to find out what the resolution might be, but it's very frustrating to have to take your dirty dishes out of the dishwasher to clean in the sink because it won't do what it's supposed to do. And, the water in the dishwasher sits in there until I scoop it out. The filter has been cleaned, so that's not the culprit.

Does not get dishes clean
This is my second Frigidaire dishwasher; it replaced one that was about ten years old and whose motor burned out for no special reason. Since we cut out a cabinet to make room for it, I had to get the same size, except that it is shorter than the one it replaced and also has less capacity (shorter baskets).

We have tried every soap known to man (Biokleen seems to be the best) and even if we rinse the dishes practically clean, we find at least a handful of items in every cycle that need to be rewashed. If I need to completely wash and sanitize the dishes in the sink before loading the machine, I think I'd rather have my cabinet back!

We have also had the same problem Jason describes above; it stops in mid-cycle (sometimes with the water running!) so we don't dare leave it running when nobody is home.

At least the old one got things clean most of the time. I would not recommend this product; Sears also makes one this size (not sure who manufactures...

Great Dishwasher
My under sink cabinets were 19 inches wide, so I just took the door off of the end one and removed the self. The dishwasher fit right in with a little room to spare.

I had a plumber and an electrician hook it up for me even though anyone with normal repair skills could do it. It works like a charm. I couldn't be happier.

With a previous dishwasher I went through different kinds of detergent before I found that Amway Crystal Bright is the only one that doesn't leave streaks or other deposits, so that's all I use in this one and the dishes are clean as can be even with just the Normal setting.

Frigidaire FDB2410HIS Gallery 24 Inch, Built-In Dishwasher, White

Frigidaire FDB2410HIS Gallery 24 Inch, Built-In Dishwasher, White
Terrible rack design
The rack in this dishwasher seems to have been designed for planar dishes. And lots of them. If your dishes are totally flat, it's designed to wash complete settings for 12 people!

However, any dish with any depth to it will NOT stand up in the narrow pin spacing of this rack. Anywhere. It is impossible to load more than three dishes in the ENTIRE dishwasher without them tipping over and crashing into each other. And then you can't load anything else.

AND, the upper rack will not allow you to load any glass (particularly wine glasses) taller than 7 inches.

So, if you run a prison cafeteria with flat metal plates and short cups, this might be the dishwasher for you. If not, look elsewhere.

Lovely machine but loading may be a problem
We bought this dishwasher a month ago, and are generally pleased with it. It washes the dishes well, and is sufficiently adjustable to take tall items in either shelf. It is extremely quiet. It takes 105-120 minutes to run a cycle, but that's standard these days for energy efficient machines. I do wish that instead of a countdown, the LED display would show what part of the cycle it was at (wash, rinse, or dry).

Our major complaint is that the tines that separate and support the dishes aren't well suited for our dishes. They all slant, and they are fairly close together, so putting in glasses or mugs or pitchers is difficult, because you want them to stand vertically and the tines make this hard to accomplish. Because the tines are so close together, bowls will fit only if you lie them flat, taking up a lot of space per bowl. Our soup bowls are fairly curvy, not the flattish ones you find in elegant china, and there's really no way to stack them. (You can lie half the...

Great dishwasherl
After reading many bad reviews of Bosch dishwashers, I made the plunge. It is quiet, very high capacity, washes very well, dries at least as well as my old washer. We wanted an adjustable top rack but have not adjusted it in 3 months. Our washing schedule now depends on when we run out of dishes instead of when it is full.

If one stops the washer when the timer hits zero, it has not started drying, and the dishes will be wet. Just wait an hour and your dishes will be dry, at least as dry as old fashioned ones with an exposed heating element.

The high capacity means that the bottom is very close to the floor, so one must bend over to load and unload. Complaints about the bottom rack being hard to slide are because the door is not fully opened.

So far, so good!
Like another reviewer, I'm puzzled by the very negative reviews of Bosch washers. I took Consumer Reports' word for it, and bought this one. So far, I have only done a couple of loads, but I can say:

1. it washes well. It even got stains out of the bottom of my teapot.
2. it is extremely quiet--useful if your TV is in the room next to your kitchen.
3. it is attractive. I don't see any part of it looking cheap, as some reviewers do.
4. The stainless steel interior does have a smell, but it's more or less a "new car smell," not a displeasing one.

However,

1. the interior does seem a bit small, and it can be tricky to load because of the angled tines set close together.
2. it's a little narrower (about a half inch) than my old Whirlpool. It comes with rubber "wings" or gaskets on the side that can spread out to fill the opening built into your cupboards, but it would look nicer if it fit perfectly.
3. you must always have...

DW and customer service stink
Our Kitchenaid dishwasher has been a constant disappointment. We spent about $500 for repairs to things documented as known problems online, and have only kept it because I learned to fix it myself and it hasn't fully died, though it doesn't clean dishes well, and regularly malfunctions by getting clogged with minor debris and the door popping open during cycle.

Warranty is shot, customer service lacking, and products shoddy. Will not buy a Kitchenaid again.

The ProScrub ® Option is an ideal solution for casserole dishes and other large platters that require concentrated cleaning of carmelized or baked-on messes. The wash system delivers better results (combined wash and dry results of leading premium brands' highest MSRP models; dry testing conducted without rinse aid).

  • The ProScrub(R) Option helps eliminate soaking or pre-scrubbing by removing stubborn messes like seared or baked-on foods.
  • Fully integrated console forms clean lines and integrates with other appliances by concealing the control panel.
  • Shelves on either side of the upper rack that fold down to accommodate items such as cups. Each shelf includes molded indents to keep stemware in place.
  • The Heat Dry option delivers faster and more complete drying by activating a recessed heating element during the drying cycle.
  • Premium adjusters make it easy to raise or lower the upper rack for optimal loading space, and the SatinGlide(R) System allows the rack to move almost effortlessly.

Bosch SHV7ER53UC 800 Plus 24
The lower rack and all the settings buttons drive me mad!!
I love Bosch appliances, reliable, great looking and long lasting. This dishwasher is the first one that I absolutely hate!
I own 2 of them and the older version SHV45 series is wonderful, it takes 2 pushes of the same button to turn it - all the settings are pre-set and ready to go. With the newer version, I have to push 3 buttons to make it work, every time, choosing the same setting. And they are not easy to push. Now, I know I sound like a truly spoiled character, since I have to do it 2 times a day, it is a rather an unpleasant experience.
I could live with all of this unnecessary button pushing, if it was not for the lower rack: on the older version the rack has 7 bars going across the bottom, which keep all the items neatly contained, however small. In a multiple kids household we go through a lot of glasses and bowls, not all of them fit on the upper rack. This current version, for some reason, had done away with 2 bars, leaving me with only 5 on the bottom. I...

Looks great but does not clean well
We have had this dishwasher for over a year now. We bought it because we liked the water and energy saving features, as well as the fact that the buttons are hidden when the door is closed. It is also super quiet. But by now we are quite disappointed with its performance. The energy saving cycle really did not produce clean dishes, so we are using the standard cycles now. But even those often leave cups and cutlery dirty, especially if they are placed too close to the corners of the rack. The design of the racks is quite aggravating. My old Miele never had any problems of this sort and I regret not having stayed with that brand.

buyer beware
I have had this unit for close to a year now. When it works its great. At 7 months the unit went dead. Tech came out and replaced the control board. Now 3 months later after repair unit is dead again. I have purchased Kitchenaid dishwashers, washers, dryers, refrigerators, and ranges for over 25 years with minimal or no problems whatsoever. In researching this concern, I found that Kitchenaid and parent company whirlpool (both share common parts) have had problems with control boards (some even catching fire) in dishwashers. This unit is not of Kitchenaid quality of the past and just is a gussied up whirlpool product with a premium price. Kitchenaid customer service is useless And of no help. Stay away and buy a more reliable brand.
