Maytag Jetclean Plus Series MDB8959AWW Fully Integrated Dishwasher - White
Faulty Control Panel
Like other Matag Jet Clean Plus models, this is a good dishwasher with a badly designed control panel. If it is installed under a counter (the way it would be in most kitchens), moisture that accumulates on the control panel will cause it to stop working after about a 12-18 months. This has now happened to our model TWICE (as well as to other reviewers here.)

So, one is either forced to buy the extended warranty or to pay expensive repair bills. Either way, you can expect this product to break down. It is not reliable.

Simple: Do not buy unless you only need it for 3 years or so
I own two Maytag dishwashers because they have a third rack for cookie sheets and pan lids and great little clips for baby bottle tops, lids, and such stuff, and a piece you can lower to hold down things that try to fly around.

Another plus for us is the hidden wash controls that small children cannot learn to operate.

I suspect that all models have similar profiles of performance, but take this as you will considering whether it will apply to the model you want. I have had Maytag dishwashers in black and almond. (And have owned GE and Kitchen Aid also.)

As another reviewer has said the control panel goes belly up sooner or later-- in my experience, it's 3-5 years from purchase that one thing or the other is going to go.

The cost to replace the control panel, which can have one function go out or the whole panel go completely nuts overnight, is a good chunk of what it costs to replace the unit.

For the last 2-3 months, it was...

Nice looking, ok performance.
I just installed this a few days ago to replace my 8 year old Maytag. It seems that the old dishwasher got the dishes cleaner than this one. I like the smooth front, fairly quiet operation, hidden controls, and stainless steel tub, but the lack in performance is unacceptable. I have run 2 loads through so far, both of which had dried food stuck to them and baked on by the drying cycle. Fortunately, I got a good deal on my dishwasher at Lowe's and installed it myself, but if I would have paid full price and paid for installation, I'd be livid!
