Waring Pro MX1000R Professional 3.5-Horsepower Blender, Black

Waring Pro MX1000R Professional 3.5-Horsepower Blender, Black

Waring Pro MX1000R Professional 3.5-Horsepower Blender, Black
Waring MX1000 review
Pros:

Professional smoothies (exactly like Jamba Juice)

Very easy to clean

Polycarbonate carafe

Quick (does its business very quickly)

Cons:

Expensive (not everyone spends $400 on a blender)

Loud (not appropriate for apartment living)

Bulky (its significantly larger than a normal blender)

When I unpacked this blender I knew right away that it is a very serious machine. The base is very large and heavy duty with two large switches. One is for pulse and the other high and low speeds. The engine is rated at 3 horsepower and power cord is very think similar to the cord used on a high power drill or garage tool. The unit itself has a geared metal socket that matches a toothed metal gear built into the carafe. No plastic clutch that can break. The lightweight polycarbonate carafe sits on four posts, but will need you to hold it down with your hand on top for it to work correctly. The blade is...

Handles what others can't!
We have gone through 4 blenders in the last 18 months. We are consumers of high quality products and usually do our research. Each and everyday we make "fruit shakes" for our family of 5. Our mix consists of frozen fruit, sometimes some fresh fruit, yogurt, and oj. Our other blenders burned out, even the Blendtec couldn't handle the job (it automatically shut down on us, plus it couldn't really handle 64 oz. of our mix!). But this guy (okay, it's very masculine looking), can do the job quick and make enough in the mega-sized 64 oz. plus pitcher for all 5 of us (we usually have to make 2 pitchers). Frozen drinks are just about all we use a blender for so for our purposes, this is the only one for us! It's loud, it's scary, it moves about a bit, but it does the job so fast that it doesn't matter that much. It's not that attractive to my eyes, but my DH thinks otherwise. I usually like to store my appliances in cabinets, but this one is too big and heavy to move in and out each...

Super Blender
I got this to replace an Oster blender whose motor burned out. I ordered it without consulting my wife. Initially she was not happy because this one doesn't have all kinds of buttons etc. It is also extremely noisy, you have to hold onto it when using it or it will migrate off the counter, it is heavy, takes up a lot of space, it is pricey, and it can draw 12 amps (don't put it on the same circuit as the microwave!) However, these drawbacks are inconsequential if your principal concern is a product that actually does its job quickly and efficiently. Throw the ingredients in, put on your hearing protectors, turn it on, hold it down, and after 30 seconds or less, you are done. I suppose the pulse switch is useful in some situations but I have yet to need it. The plastic jar is also easier to clean than our old one, which had removable blades. My wife is now a believer even though she hates having to admit I was right! If you don't have hearing protectors I strongly urge you to...

Make smoothies, soups, dips and more
Jar, Lid, Cap
Pitcher features a flexible lid, clear cap and non-slip handle

Waring Pro MX1000R Professional Blender

The heavy-duty Waring Pro MX1000R Specialty Blender is great for blending sauces, soups, desserts, dressings, beverages and more. The motor and large blades crush ice with ease and smoothly blend fruit drinks and soups. In addition to two speed options, a pulse feature makes it easy to create salsa and more. This powerful blender also has a flexible lid that presses tightly in place and features a central clear cap that turns and releases to open when you need to add foods to your mixture. The dishwasher-safe 64-ounce polycarbonate pitcher with non-slip handle provides the capability to make smoothies in bulk.

Control Panel
Easy to use controls
Features
  • Heavy-duty, 3.5 peak horsepower high-performance motor, 30,000+ RPM
  • 64-ounce polycarbonate container
  • Simple High, Low, Off and Pulse paddle switches
  • ETL, NSF listed
How to Use
  1. Before starting, make sure that the blender is unplugged.
  2. With the unit in the Off position, place the container on the blender base. Be sure the container is fully seated and that drive coupling is properly engaged. Plug the blender cord into an outlet.
  3. Put ingredients into the container, being sure not to fill above the Max line. Cover the pitcher. Always hold the container with one hand when starting and while blending. Never operate without the jar lid in place.
  4. Press the paddle switch to the desired speed, be it Hi or Low. To crush ice quickly, use the Hi speed setting. To engage the pulse option, hold the Pulse paddle switch in the lower position. The unit will run on the Hi speed until the paddle switch is released.
  5. When finished blending, set the paddle switch to the Off position.
  6. Allow the motor to come to a complete stop before removing the container from the blender base. Never place the container on the motor base or remove it from the motor base while motor is running.
  7. Once blending is complete and ingredients are removed, wash and dry the container.
Just the size and weight of this blender indicates it is a professional grade workhorse. Weighing 15 pounds and standing 19 inches tall, with an oversized base measuring 9 inches square, the blender takes on a prodigious appearance. The supercharged 3.5 peak horsepower motor and large blades will crush ice with ease and smoothly blend fruit drinks and soups. Only two speeds, high and low, are available, which should cover most needs. The pulse feature is ideal for creating large-particle foods such as homemade salsa and gazpacho.

Squared in shape, the tough polycarbonate pitcher features a very generous nonslip handle and holds 64 ounces of cold liquid, less if hot. The flexible lid presses tightly in place and features a central clear cap that turns and releases to open for adding foods. Two paddle-shape switches make operation easy even if hands are wet. The removable pad that covers the top of the blender base to add nonslip cushioning for the pitcher can be tossed in the dishwasher for cleaning. The four broad legs of the blender are also made of nonslip material to help prevent sliding and make pick-up secure. Because the blade assembly does not unscrew from the pitcher for separate cleaning, the blender pitcher should be washed thoroughly with hot soapy water and a soft scrub brush after each use. --Ann Bieri

  • Professional grade 3.5 peak horsepower blender tackles smoothies, soups, and ice
  • Oversized, weighty base stays put during use
  • 64-ounce polycarbonate pitcher with integrated blades and nonslip handle
  • 2 speeds plus pulse action; 19 inches high; weighs 15 pounds
  • Ships in Certified Frustration-Free Packaging

KitchenAid Blender RKSB560: White
Search for the holy blender...
I have been looking for a blender for a few weeks now. We have started making smoothies at home and burned up our old one. Our girls like the "Chocolate Elvis" recipe from the local smoothie place which contains peanutbutter, bananas, yogurt, ice, and milk. I guess this is really hard on blenders. I bought one at Target 2 weeks ago that had "700 watts peak power" on the box. It died in 2 days. The power spec on the bottom of the blender said 450 watts. I think that is false advertisement. I have seen this on 2 different blenders now.

I have been leery of buying any blender with the little plastic teeth couplers because of all the bad reviews here on Amazon. I also wanted to stay away from anything with only 450 watts.

I was in another store and saw this blender. It has a new design for where the blades couple with the motor. "Commercial quality couplers with 12 interlocking teeth....coated for quiet operation".

We have had it for a few days now and...

They Redesigned The Container (carafe)!!!
We bought this Kitchenaid blender over a year ago, and after several months the container started to leak. The leak was small, and we put up with it for awhile. We finally got tired of the mess, however, and called the factory. We were told that the container had been redesigned, and they would send us a new one immediately even though our warranty had expired. When we got the new one we could see that it had indeed been redesigned, and have used it for some time now, and NO LEAKS. A leak proof container plus the other great features of this blender now warrant a definite five stars.

3/24/12 update. Our blender is now five years old, is used every day, and has been problem free since they replaced the container in 2008.

Do Yourself a Favor and Buy this Fantasitc Blender
My husband and I make smoothies almost every single night (as in, 6-7 nights/week), so we're really hard on our blenders. We have been through 4 blenders in the last 3 years alone. We started with a cheap Oster blender, but quickly realized that it was pretty much useless for the thick smoothies we like to make. Next, I bought the Back to Basics Smoothie Elite, which was great for as long as it held up, but as it turned out, that was only 6 months. So, we upgraded to the Back to Basics Smoothie Professional, which was great until I dropped the glass jar into the sink and broke it, only to find that you couldn't buy a new one ANYWHERE so my $120 blender was now worthless.

After all this, I decided to stop fooling around and buy a Kitchenaid. This blender has all the power you need (way more power than any of the first 3 blenders I bought; both the smoothie blenders came with a stir stick, but such a thing isn't even necessary when you have the power of this Kitchenaid),...

When entertaining, keep the smoothies and iced drinks coming with this 0.9 horsepower blender that's built for back-to-back blending. The 56 oz. contoured pitcher slides ingredients into the blade for faster blending. Patented blade strikes at 4 planes for optimum performance. Commercial-grade polycarbonate pitcher is remarkably strong and lightweight and resists temperature extremes and scratches and stains. Push of a button crushes ice evenly and you can pulse at any speed. Puree hot soups, chop thick veggies, and mix smooth batters faster than ever with ultimate consistency and control. Hassle-free 1-year replacement warranty. 7"W X 8 1/2"D x 15 1/2"H. 12 lbs. Model: KSB560.

Best Blender EVER
I hesitated to put down so much money for a blender with a company I hadn't any experience. What an amazing product and what an amazing company. Mine worked perfectly for a few weeks and then the motor stopped working (it was a refurbished one I got from Amazon). Breville was just the best! They sent me a packaging return label by email within the hour and had a new one to me within a week. The motor wasn't repairable so they just sent a new one. With this kind of customer service on their products and they way Breville stands behind their product just amazed me. The blender is also great. I will not hesitate to plunk down money for a Breville product again. The blender is a great product. My daughter throws whatever she wants in her smoothie in there and it has a pulsing action that moves everything around and up and down. Perfect smoothie everytime: no scraping the sides down or having to stir it down mid-blend. I tried crushed ice: perfect sno-cone thin shavings. The...

In Kitchen Heaven
I was a little leery about buying something that was refurbished, but I'm so glad that I did. Half Price!! -What a deal. It comes out of the box just like a brand new one. -Fabulous Blender. - I phoned Breville to find out if the Polycarbonate Pitcher was BPA free and they said that if it has the measurements written in red, then it is BPA free.. if the writing is in blue, then it's not BPA free. This refurbished one that I bought here on Amazon has the measurements in red, so I'm happy. I also asked them about buying a replacement gasket so that I would have one on hand if it's ever necessary, they do sell them for $10 plus shipping.
Apart from the obvious wonders of the motor, the one minute timer and the looks, the other aspect of this blender that I love love love is that it's so easy to clean. It's all dishwasher safe but it's actually as easy to rinse out than it would be to put it into the dishwasher.. when you remove the one piece blade system the opening into the pitcher...

Have had this blender for about a month and have used it every single day. The Blade makes easy work of frozen fruit and protein powders are no longer chalky tasting after a whirl in this machine. I have never spent this much on a blender before and I can honestly say it is worth every cent.

Cuisinart BFP-10CH PowerBlend Duet Blender and Food Processor, Chrome and Black

Cuisinart BFP-10CH PowerBlend Duet Blender and Food Processor, Chrome and Black

Cuisinart BFP-10CH PowerBlend Duet Blender and Food Processor, Chrome and Black
Terrific combo for the price!
We bought this blender/processor combo in February, but were a little nervous given some of the other reviews. But, a friend was using this as a drink blender at a party and raved about it. So, we bought it and thought we'd try it for a while before writing a review. So far, after pretty steady use, we love it. The ice crusher is terrific. The blender handles large capacity well. Everything has come out great.

So, how do we answer the cons that others point out? First, the noise. Uh, blenders are noisy. This doesn't seem to be any worse than any others we've owned--it's about the same as any other I've owned (Krupps, Oster). Then, the question of an oder--there was a slight oily smell when we first started using it, but that is long gone now. Yes, the food processor part is small, this is a combo unit. They are small on all combo units. And it's larger than the Krupps combo processor, for that matter the blender is larger too! Some don't care for the look. That's esthetic,...

A Word of Caution - can its motor handle smoothies?
After the motor burned out making smoothies with our old Cuisinart blender we bought the Cuisinart PowerBlend 600 7-Speed to replace it. I was attracted by the 600-watt motor and 56 ounce capacity. I noticed the manual said on page 5:

"Note: Add liguid ingredients first, then follow with solid ingredients. This will provide more consistent blending and prevent unnecessary stress on the motor."

So I started with 2 cups of orange juice and two bananas, started on the stir speed and worked up to liquefy, then added 4 scoops of soy protein powder and then slowly added 1/2 bag of frozen fruit. Other than an electical smell, I thought all was well and figured the smell was due to light oil burning off on the motors first use. I then added a few ice cubes and the thing stopped dead! I turned it off, unplugged it, let it cool down for an hour but never could get the thing to work again. Apparently the motor burned out. Calling support was no help other than...

Good product
I bought this as a replacement for another Cuisinart food processor that gave up the ghost after 18 years of regular use. It is well designed and a bit lighter than the older models. It can be a little tricky to get the top on at first - do it a few times with it empty to see how the mechanism works and then it's easy to do. It seems to be able to handle any blending/processing job that I give it including really thick smoothies and baby food.

Cuisinart's powerful new 7-speed blender has a genuine Cuisinart food processor. A heavy-duty 500-watt motor pulses, stirs, mixes, purees, chops and even crushes ice in record time. In food processor mode, users can slice, shred or process ingredients right into a 3 cup work bowl. It's big, it's powerful, and it's easy - removable parts are dishwasher-safe!

  • 500-watt countertop blender with 3-cup food-processor attachment
  • 7 pre-programmed speeds for versatility; oversized "on/off" switch
  • Feed tube and pusher, slicing/shredding disc, and chopping blade
  • 56-ounce glass jar; LED indicators; dishwasher-safe parts; cord storage
  • Measures 6-7/8 by 8 by 15 inches; 3-year limited warranty

Breville 800BLXL Die-Cast Hemisphere 2-Speed Blender with 67-Ounce Polycarbonate Jar
I love this blender
After reading the previous reviews, I was a bit leery of buying this blender. I wanted the best, period. First, this is in my opinion the best looking and I leave it on my counter top, replacing a Kitchen Aid which I gave to my sister.

The first thing I did was to fill the jug with ice to the top. I pushed the ice button and within a few minutes, I had finely grated snow with no large chunks at all. It would have been a perfect snow cone. I went on to put in Strawberries, soft tofu, Yogurt, Soy vanilla ice cream, honey and a little non fat milk on top of the shaved ice. It made one of the best smoothies I have ever had. I have had numerous complements from my wife and neighbors on the smoothies this produces.

I also put in a whole large sweet onion quartered and three cups of large skinned tomatoes, some mushrooms, corn and whole garlic cloves, along with some essential seasoning and made a perfect tomato soup. The consistency was creamy and consistently...

More affordable alternative to a BlendTec or Vitamix
I recently picked this blender up when my old blender, a Kitchenaid KSB560OB 5-Speed Ultra Power Series Blender that was about 3 years old died. In defense of the old blender a small piece of chicken bone inadvertantly went in when I was blending homemade dog food so I consider it my fault. However, rather than fixing the broken coupler I decided it was a good opportunity to upgrade to something with more power.

My dream blender was a vitamix since I had heard rave reviews about it from friends who owned one. However after analyzing the cost I realized I didn't need my blender to do as many things as it could promise given I already have a juicer, food processor, immersion blender and spice grinder at home. After reading about this blender it seemed like the perfect alterative. It's still VERY well made and he design of the jar allows it to blend frozen fruit with ease, but it's about half the price of a vitamix.

So far I've used it to make lots of...

Good power but disappointed in blending performance
Purchased this blender after two bearing failures on two different Cuisinart blenders over a two year period. Make smoothies almost every morning using fresh and frozen fruit and the Cuisinart was marginal on power when using frozen fruit. The Breville 800BLXL has sufficient power but has a greater tendency to create an air pocket around the blade mechanism than the Cuisinart. This then requires stopping the machine and poking something down to the bottom to release the air. If it wasn't for this deficiency I would give it a full 5 star rating.

The Breville Die-Cast Hemisphere Blender turns ice into snow with a powerful 1000 watt motor! The patented bowl/blade system utilizes a large, semicircular shredding blade positioned to hug the uniquely shaped bowl. Because of this design, there are no still zones around the blades and the results are finely shredded, consistent ingredients. The 67 ounce/2 liter polycarbonate pitcher is designed to resist fogginess and cracking. The baked enamel measurements provide for sharp viewing and accurate measurement. The base control pad is designed without crevices for easy cleaning and gives you precise control over the motor's 2-speed settings and pulse functions. The base is die-cast stainless. The pitcher is dishwasher safe. It has a Breville assist lid and plug for easy removal.

  • 1000-watt blender offers push-button controls and 2 speed settings plus pulse
  • Extra-wide stainless-steel blades hug bowl to prevent food from being trapped
  • Stainless-steel and polymer motor helps eliminate friction and create quiet blending

Big Boss Torpedo Multi-Purpose 10 in 1 Kitchen Appliance, Black

Big Boss Torpedo Multi-Purpose 10 in 1 Kitchen Appliance, Black
Big, loud, and great at everything.
Big for a "blender." Loud for a blender...or any kitchen appliance, automobile, train, or aircraft. But this thing gets the job done!

First beverage, a juiced treat made of apples, carrots, raspberries...and some ice cubes thrown in for good measure. Not having owned a standalone juicer, I can't comment on if it does better or worse, but this Torpedo had no problems at all converting the solids into liquids. Very smooth - a little "gritty" when used with the "medium" screen, but silky smooth with the fine screen. Based on what went into the machine versus what came out to drink, it was pretty impressive how little pulp was leftover. Very nice - and no raspberry seeds!

Next up, we through a block of cheddar cheese in there. Yeah, who puts a block of cheese in a blender? (Well, come on! This is no blender, this is a "Kitchen Appliance!") It whipped through the cheese block very quickly, and while I wouldn't consider the end result exactly "shredded" how...

Love The Auto Cycle
I've had this appliance for about a month now. I have made smoothies, blended salsas and soups so far. I love the auto cycle, which blends for a few seconds then pauses and starts up again. This cycle repeats for about a minute. With my old blender, I would have to start and stop manually to stir things around, especially when I made whole fruit or green smoothies. No more.

I also love the fact that there is a locking lid. My old blender's top came off a few times when I was blending soups. That was a mess! There are attachments that come with this blender, like 2 different filters for juicing, and a spout to attach to the container, so that drinks and juices can be poured out individually. There is also a recipe book included with lots of recipes to try. It's also easy to clean.

My only complaint is the height of the appliance. I used to be able to put my old blender in my cabinet. This one has to stay out on my countertop. And it barely fits between...

Breville BBL600XL ikon Hemisphere LCD 750-Watt Blender

Breville BBL600XL ikon Hemisphere LCD 750-Watt Blender

Breville BBL600XL ikon Hemisphere LCD 750-Watt Blender
The Best Blender We Have Ever Owned
After owning two inferior blenders, I wanted one for our family that was powerful, sturdy, relatively quiet, easy to clean and good-looking. This blender is simply the best blender we have ever owned.

First, it is very powerful. You should have no problem using it for everything blenders are usually used for, including crushing ice, which it does amazingly well. It has a separate smoothie button that is fantastic: it varies the speed during the blending process and helps you create perfect smoothies, with no effort on your part. The blender shuts off automatically after using the smoothie or other preset functions, and has a digital display that counts down and tells you how long it will take to finish blending.

Perhaps most importantly, the curved blades and concave container are designed in such a way as to reduce or eliminate the amount of food that gets stuck in the bottom of the blender. In fact, after using it a few times, I was pleasantly surprised to find...

Breville BBL600XL
I initially had a great experience with the Breville BBL600XL blender. It did everything that I wanted, and did it very well. Smoothies, frappes, fruits, veggies, all that I wanted it to do. I didn't have any problems with the frequently discussed leaking large seal.

But the problem with my unit, and after much internet research, I believe others are having the same problem as well, but just haven't disassembled and diagnosed the problem. I have done exactly that, and here is what I have found.

There is a small black seal under the blades, not the large seal which seals the cutter assembly to the glass jar. Here is what I believe is occurring: The liquid from the ingredients, which are blended, eventually leak under this black seal (which is underneath the 3 blades inside the jar), and into a bearing which is part of the blade assembly. This bearing should be a high quality food quality sealed bearing, but this particular bearing is not either, a)high quality,...

KitchenAid KSB580NK Custom Metallic 5-Speed Blender, Brushed Nickel
The Leak Problem

Top-Notch Blender
This is an excellent, high-quality blender. We replaced an inexpensive Oster with it and like this KitchenAid much, much more. Things I really like:

1) Power - this blender whips through hard-frozen fruit like nothing is there for wonderful smoothies.
2) Smooth, one piece control panel - makes for super-easy clean-up as there are no cracks or crevices to trap spills. Yet, the buttons behind the panel still have a nice tactile click response so you know you pressed one.
3) Brushed nickel finish - very attractive on your counter.
4) Polycarbonate jar - this worried me when considering this purchase as our old blender had a nice, thick glass jar. But, after using this blender for 3 months, I like this jar better. It is thick, yet lightweight, and hasn't scratched (although I only use rubber or silicone spatulas inside any way).
5) One piece blades & jar - our old blender had a screw-off base, resulting in 4 parts for clean-up - the base, the blade...

Fantastic blender design (and execution)
This blender replaces a 20 year old Hamilton Beach that finally gave up the ghost (after being abused by my lovely spouse one too many times ;-) ).

I actually purchased the refurbished one direct from KitchenAid for $100.

Out of the box, the pitcher had a small leak, so a thin line of blended goodness and maybe a touch of oil were getting slung around the inside of the base of the pitcher (where the pitcher fits over the base). SOLUTION: Call KitchenAid Customer Service and voila, they are shipping me a new one (they said keep the old, leaky one--I may try to fix it). Now THAT is what I call great customer service.

There is some confusion as to the Watts (power) that this thing has:

120V x 6A = 720 Watts (the base simply says 120V, 6A motor)
but
0.9hp * 746W/hp = 671 Watts (the advertised spec on the KitchenAid site has 0.9hp)
or
650 Watts (according to JC Penny)

Let's call it 700 Watts and move...

Hamilton Beach 58149 Blender and Chopper

Hamilton Beach 58149 Blender and Chopper

Hamilton Beach 58149 Blender and Chopper
Great Blender + Chopper
This Hamilton Beach Blender is amazing! It looks great from the outside and works perfectly up till now. Its wave action blending definitely works well and blends better than other blenders that I have used in the past. The lid on this blender though is probably what I like the best about it. It avoid all spills and/or overflows while it is blending because it goes tightly over the blender and the top actually enables you to pour into something without even taking the lid off! This saves a lot of time and keeps other pitchers clean since your blender becomes the perfect pitcher! The chopper is simply an extra, but the extra works fantastic. I have made a lot of salsas and chopped tomato, onion, etc and it chops them to perfection. I really like this blender and therefore, I rate it 4 stars out of 5 stars!

I hope this review helped you out!

Powerful blender, blends anything!
I bought this blender from a retailer near my place after checking reviews online. This is a fantastic blender. It purees/blends frozen fruit or ice down really well and doesn't leave ANY lumps or chunks. It has a limited number of functions but it doesn't need anything more. I think that this is the best blender you can get for your money that looks good, works well, and is good quality.

The "Wave" action is great...when it works. Still, this blender/chopper combo is a VERY good value!
I am quite satisfied with this blender/chopper. The performance-to-value ratio is tough to beat if you don't mind a straightforward blender with a minimum of frills. I've had many Hamilton Beach kitchen appliances and, like the others, this one not only looks great, but works well and didn't leave my pocketbook weeping. The "wave" action works extremely well - when it works - but I find the unique internal shape of the jar (which is made of good quality glass) sometimes restricts thicker/chunkier ingredients from reaching the blades effectively. A little "stop n' shake" action with the jar gets it going again, but it'd be nice to just push a button and know that the blender is going to pulverize everything consistently. The lid design works very well for pouring drinks and I have had no problems with the motor or blades when used to crush ice for smoothies, etc. A great performer in a great looking package at a great price from Amazon! A+

Revolutionary Wave-Action system continuously pulls mixture down into the blades for smooth results every time

  • 700-watt peak power
  • Mess-free spout
  • 3 cup chopping bowl
  • 2 speeds plus pulse
  • Stainless steel blades

Margaritaville DM0500 Bahamas 36-Ounce Frozen-Concoction Maker

Margaritaville DM0500 Bahamas 36-Ounce Frozen-Concoction Maker

Margaritaville DM0500 Bahamas 36-Ounce Frozen-Concoction Maker
Great Choice over the DM1000 and DM2000
I picked up the DM0500 model after some extensive shopping around for one of the Margaritaville blenders. This one doesn't hold as much ice as the others but it holds enough for one pitcher worth of drinks. It also doesn't have the fancy buttons that the others have that denote "mudslide," "daiquiri," or "Margarita"(I've heard there is little difference in these settings).

That is the main difference between this model and the others. It had the standard shave only/ blend only switch and a start button( more on that later).

The blender itself is very nice it has some great artistic accents like behind the pitcher on the machine is a metal engraving of a palm tree and a sea plane. The construction is easy and it works right out of the box. All you have to do is attach the ice hopper and you're finished.

Some of the negatives though are that the metal ice chute (that's what I call it) shifts up and down so that it fits perfectly and tightly to the...

Perfect Magarita Consistency
Made the huge mistake of buying the Margarator first. What a piece of junk. We returned that to the store and we were very hesitant to sink even more money into this, but we really wanted something to make frozen drinks. I am so glad we took the plunge and bought this machine. PERFECT SHAVED ICED CONSISTENCY - JUST LIKE IN THE RESTAURANTS! Very easy to make and very fast. Make sure you follow the recipe ratio in the directions. The recipe calls for 2 to 1 ratio. I was used to following the recipe on the back of most Magarita mixes that are 3 to 1 (Mixer to Alcohol).

Awesome blender!
I bought this for my father for Christmas. He loves making margaritas, but could never get his blender to shave the ice well. This blender shaves ice perfectly and comes with some great drink recipes. I have the larger version that I also use for smoothies, but this size is nice for every day use if you have limited counter space, or as a gift.

The New Margaritaville Frozen Concoction Maker - Bahamas is your passport to transport your next party to the islands. Simply fill the top reservoir with ice, pour your favorite ingredients into the jar and at the touch of a button, the Shave-N-Blend controls automatically make a pitcher-perfect 36 ounces of frozen margarita deliciousness in one easy step. The shaved ice ensures better drink consistency - no more ice chunks or watered down drinks. The Bahamas allows you to shave only and blend only to create customized frozen concoctions by adding more shaved ice or blending a little bit longer. The ice reservoir holds enough ice to make one full pitcher of margaritas in one automatic cycle, while melting ice is channeled into a rear reservoir to avoid watered-down drinks. The tropical color, nautical design elements and chrome accents make the Bahamas the perfect party enhancer for your next spur of the moment party. The blending jar and its components are all dishwasher safe, and the rest of the unit quickly wipes clean. Accessories include a Margaritaville shot glass, a quick start guide, a frozen drink recipe guide, and an instruction manual. The Frozen Concoction Maker - Bahamas is your escape to paradise.

  • 450-watt frozen-concoction maker blends up to 36 ounces
  • Dual motors for shaving ice and blending beverages; ice reservoir
  • Manual shave/blend option for customized drinks; dishwasher-safe parts
  • Shot glass, recipes, and instructions
  • Measures approximately 14-2/5 by 8-2/7 by 18 inches

Breville BBL605XL Hemisphere Control Blender

Breville BBL605XL Hemisphere Control Blender

Breville BBL605XL Hemisphere Control Blender
Excellent blade design that keeps things moving
The things I like best about this blender are its wide bottom hugging blade design and the wide based BPA-free jar that makes easier to get blended concoctions out of the container. The unique blade system means that you won't have to stop the blender and resituate the ingredients often if at all like with a lot of other blenders. I make green smoothies with about a half pound of fresh spinach, a cup of water, a few ice cubes, frozen berries, a few leaves of kale, a couple cups of cabbage, a peeled banana and lemon and flax seed. Before getting this blender, the only one that could handle this type of smoothie is the Vitamix 4500. But with the Vitamix I had to use the tamper several times or turn it off and rearrange the ingredients that were stuck down at the bottom to get it to start blending again. With the Breville, I don't have to use a tamper and don't have to resituate the ingredients because they don't have a tendency to get stuck.

This blender has a smart,...

Once in a while ... you get a great product
I grew up in the 1950s and remember when we got the very first "Osterizer." It was all chrome, heavy, with a small glass jar (no handle), and had two speeds.

Since then, I've owned several blenders, including an Oster avocado-green plastic base model (ah, remember the 1970s?), a KitchenAid, and most recently a Cuisinart "Vari-Speed." All of these work, to one degree or another, but they all suffer from one or more of the following problems:

* Extremely noisy
* Hard to clean
* Ingredients don't get to the bottom, so you have to stop and push them down with a stick
* Insufficient blending, even after a long time on high speed
* Insecure lid that lets ingredients burst out when the jar if full

This Breville BBL605XL has none of these problems. It is a remarkably good product. I've owned it for over a month.

Let me tell you about it.

Noise

I have a Radio Shack sound meter. I filled my old...

I LIKE IT... and Im a 'blender snob'
Ok, Im not a blender snob, but I use my blender daily. Dont know what Id do without it. I have had some good ones, couple great ones, and a lot of junk ones. This one fits in with the greats (so far).

I have been using a Waring blender until this arrived. Now that is awaiting a new home with the first friend who wants to take it. This blender is great. The pitcher is large, a nice change as most 'good' blenders have figured out it is easier to make it work well with a smaller pitcher, so they all come with smaller pitchers now. This one is BIG. The blade design allows for a big pitcher with a wide base, and still blends properly and keeps ingredients from clumping around the bottom. The blade has an extra set that "sweep" around the bottom of the pitcher and keep ingredients from hiding there, forcing them back up into the other blades to be crushed with the rest.

I usually start my day with a fruit smoothie. We put fruit and basic ingredients into...

How do you pull down what's on top, while whipping up what's below?
Ice floats. Kiwi fruit doesn't. How do you pull down what's on top, while whipping up what's below?
BBL605XL features

Why the Breville Hemisphere Control Blender?

Every Breville product begins with a simple moment of brilliance. The Breville Hemisphere Control began with the observation that some blending ingredients float—and others don’t. How do you pull down what's on top, while whipping up what's below? Other blenders often blend unevenly, over-processing some ingredients and leaving lumps of others. The Breville Hemisphere Control Blender solves this problem with its innovative hemisphere blade system.

This is how the Breville Hemisphere Control stands apart: no matter what you put in it, it can consistently and evenly whip up the perfect blend.

Even blending, every time

Declared one of the best blenders of 2012 by a leading rater of kitchen products, the Breville Hemisphere Control uses an innovative design: extra wide stainless steel blades are contoured to sweep along the base of the jug and push ingredients up while central blades pull ingredients down.

It's no wonder this blender has been called the best of 2012: this sleek design minimizes food traps and eliminates the need to dig ingredients out from under the blades or mix up ingredients by hand. Five speeds (including snow, mix, blend, liquefy, and puree) are supplemented by pulse, ice crush, and smoothie buttons. These buttons are preprogrammed with varying speeds—alternating pulsing and blending—to move ingredients through the jug, so you don’t have to move ingredients around manually.

Lumps have nowhere to hide. Unlike other blades, which trap pockets of ingredients under the blades (diagram a), the Hemisphere blade sweeps along the base of the bowl and pushes ingredients on the bottom to the top (diagram b). Central blades are designed to pull the ingredients on the top down to the bottom, creating a perfectly blended mixture.

Versatile functionality

The Hemisphere Control combines the functionality of a powerful blender with some food processing tasks. It crushes and chops to turn ice into snow for velvety cocktails and also folds and aerates for creamy smoothies and soups. In addition, thanks to its innovative blade design and high torque motor, the Hemisphere Control can handle blending tasks more efficiently and with less noise.

Designed with the consumer in mind

The Hemisphere Control blender is both easy to use and easy to clean. An LCD timer, 5 different speeds and three additional task functions make creating the perfect blend as easy as pushing one button. The permanent blade system is a snap to clean: just put in a drop of detergent and blend with water to remove food remnants, and then put the entire jug in the dishwasher. In addition, it is constructed from the highest quality materials. Heavy duty blades are made of engineered surgical grade stainless steel that ensures the blades stay sharp for longer, while the sturdy base is made from die-cast stainless steel.

Ninja NJ600 Pro Blender

Ninja NJ600 Pro Blender

Ninja NJ600 Pro Blender
Does not blend to smooth consistency
I drink a lot of smoothies that contain frozen fruit and various vegetables. I was using a standard blender that could be purchased anywhere for normal household use. It was not powerful enough to handle all of the frozen fruit and items that I threw in it and the motor burnt out very quickly. I purchased the Ninja Blender to replace it, and here is my feedback after using it daily for two weeks:

Perks:

It is very powerful. I can fill it full of frozen fruit, various vegetables and greens, and it blends them very quickly and effortlessly. For that, I love it! It is easy and safe to use, even my children can operate it safely. It has a large pitcher that is easy to pour from. It is easy to clean-no need to disassemble it, the design is brilliant in that the parts are solid and well constructed, and easy to remove from the base to wash.

Downfalls:

It DOES NOT blend to a smooth consistency! If the most important feature of a blender for you is...

It's awesome!
My wife and I just heard about the Ninja Blender a couple days ago. I've heard in the past that the amount of power (watts) is one of the most important factors to look for when looking for a blender. This one has 100O watts of power, which is more than any of the blenders that I know about around this price level.

I actually used to use my parent's vitamix for a couple years a few years ago and that thing was the best blender ever. Earlier this year, we bought the Blendtec from Costco and loved it, but ended up returning it because it was just too expensive. So anyway, we had a coupon for Bed Bath and Beyond and we figured if the Ninja Blender sucked, then we could return it easily. I wasn't expecting all that much since it is only 1/4th the price of a Vitamix or Blendtec. I guess I shouldn't be comparing in the first place, but those are the only blenders that did not break and worked very well when making my frozen fruit smoothies. I have tried a number of cheaper...

Great Blender
I got this blender today so it has only been used twice. However, I LOVE it so far...made "snow" in a jiffy. My main use will be for smoothies and it is a champ at making these clump free. I used all frozen fruit and nuts in mine today and it blended them right up. The container is huge and made perfect sized smoothies for my family of 3. I was in the market for the Blendtec total blender and while I'm sure it would be an AWESOME blender, it's just too expensive for my smoothie habits right now. Hopefully, this blender will be around for a few years. It is really sturdy on my cabinet as well. I love the fact that the container must be locked on before the machine will power up. Another reviewer mentioned the size was tall...it is a tall machine! I will have put the container in a cabinet and leave the base on countertop. It measured 17" from counter to top of the container with the lid locked on top. About 7" deep measuring from front to back of the base.
Hope this...
