G5 Next Grilleration - Red

G5 Next Grilleration - Red

G5 Next Grilleration - Red
A Good Multi-Purpose Appliance For the Money
I bought this from an on-line/tv retailer when it was offered as a special value. I paid about $100 for it at the time and did not do any comparison shopping because the seller offered a liberal 'no ask' return policy which had been extended for Xmas returns.
I had a specific reason for ordering this item. I wanted a multi purpose grill/griddle/waffle iron that would eliminate the need for separate appliances since I currently have too many appliances stashed all over the kitchen.
After reading the instruction book very carefully, I was good to go. This makes excellent steaks, chops, and burgers. I've used it to make grilled cheese sandwiches, grill vegetables, make mini pizzas on the griddle top as well as quesadillas, potato pancakes, crepes, bacon, eggs, sausage, waffles on the waffle iron component, and pretty much anything else someone might normally make. The results have been good to great based on the suggested cooking times.
I have encountered no problems with...

Great Choices, good recipe book, versatile!
During our move a year ago we gave up many (most) of our small electric appliances. I purchased this so that I could replace many of them - it turns out it is all I need.

I have made waffles on several occasions. They always turn out perfectly, even better than my old waffle maker.
The grill itself has held everything from hamburgers to steaks, and my husband has been pleased with those results.

It acts as a small oven, baking small portions, and it also works nicely as a portable griddle. I have also used it for Paninis. It is the most versatile item I have owned, and I highly recommend the fact that it packs a lot of functions in a very small space.

I have added the George Foreman Omelet Plates for the G5 George Foreman Grill and now use it for pocket sandwiches and omelets. This little plate can make three small pie crusts or even turnovers!

Since I have an...

Bad grill
When it got here my wife felt it had already been opened. Sure enough, it was broke and box contents just thrown back into the box.
I called the store about the problem, they asked I take a couple pictures and they would ship a new one. Now I ask you , how's that for customer service? Really happy about that.

George Foreman 84-Inch Removable Plate Grill, Red

George Foreman 84-Inch Removable Plate Grill, Red

George Foreman 84-Inch Removable Plate Grill, Red
Poor Quality!!!
I have used on of these grills before, a room mates, and never had a problem with thiers. I purchased one for myself and have had nothing but problems with it.
First and for most, it does not heat up all the way. The grill takes a long time to cook even the thinest chicken or steak.
Secound, the non-stick coating has come off of the removeable plates, with only a few months use.
And there seems to be loose parts inside the grill.

This is my third purchase of this grill
I didn't need all the extra plates. I only use the main plates but being able to remove for cleaning sure make a difference. They must have made a few improvements in the heating elements because this grill reall heats fast. I use it nearly every morning to cook my bacon or sausage. I want to avoid as much gease as possible in my food and you can just watch it drain away with the George Foreman grill. There is all kinds of products for frying and grilling but this is the best product I've found. Just take a paper towel when your done and make sure to wipe off the plates and it ready to go again.

George Foreman Grill
I purchased this mainly because it has removable plates; however, the food does not compare in taste to the small grill. Food tastes flat. I would return it if it wasn't so much trouble. I went back to using my small, compact George Foreman grill even though it takes a lot longer to clean it - the food tastes 100% better!

This george foreman classic plate grill serves 5. Its removable plates are dishwasher safe for easy cleaning along with the non-stick surface. They are designed to grill, griddle, bake and make waffles.

  • Dual power and ready indicator lights
  • Variable temperature control
  • 2-dishwasher safe removable plates
  • George tough nonstick coating
  • Exclusive fat removing design

West Bend 6111 Heart Smart Indoor Grill, Black
Excellent product!
I have used this grill with great pleasure. It's large enough to hold enough food for 4 servings, plus the griddle comes in handy for toasting buns and such. I haven't had it smoke at all. It grills just like outdoors, including the grill marks. And I can have something grilled and on the table fast. No one has to go out on the deck to cook. It's all done on the countertop. I can't say enough good things about this grill. Cleanup is easy and fast, two of my favorite words in the kitchen. I did a lot of research and reading reviews before making this purchase. I believe I found the best of the indoor grills out there.

Works decent - good price
I returned the Delonghi BG24 to buy this as they are almost identical but this one is a much better price. As a matter of fact, they are so similar they are probably manufactured by the same company.

There are only 2 differences:

* this one includes a skillet area on the grill plate, so smaller grilling area but you have a side part to grill onions or bacon for your burgers... the drip pan, base and lid are exactly the same

* this one states the grill piece is dishwasher safe, though the grill piece on the BG24 is almost the same, they state it is not dishwasher safe - probably is though

It probably uses a lot of electricity, and does not have a true BBQ taste but it works well. I scrub the gril with a teflon safe sponge while on the base with drip pan still in place and then stick it in the diswasher. I don't even put the drip pan in diswasher b/c it is so easy to clean my hand , especially when coated with water.

This is a...

Great indoor grill
This grill is wonderful. With the glass lid, you place water in the pan below the grill and it keep meats and vegetables moist. There is no smoking on any of the items that I have cook. Heat up time is quick and clean up is easy. It has been so hot lately to grill outside, this is the next best thing. Wonderful product and I would purchase it again.

Heart Smart¿ Indoor Grill. Cooking surface has a ribbed area to drain grease for low-fat grilling, Plus a solid area to grill vegetables, pancakes or keeping grilled foods warm. Calphalon HE600CG Removable-Plate Nonstick Countertop Grill

Calphalon HE600CG Removable-Plate Nonstick Countertop Grill

Calphalon HE600CG Removable-Plate Nonstick Countertop Grill
Excellent indoor grill!
I've had many indoor grills, this one outshines all of them! It is a large grill, with space enough for four burgers, sandwiches, chicken thighs or breasts, etc. It heats up fast with minimal, if any smoke. I love the timer option and control of the temperature. It is super easy to clean and the removable plates fit nicely in the dishwasher. The drip tray is huge and located where it should be, in the back, so when you open up your grill while cooking, the grease goes in it and not on your counter or under the grill. This is a bonus safety measure which I describe in detail later on in this review.

The cooking quality is excellent. One of the reviewers complained about how poorly his chicken and steak turned out. I do not understand that, he must have cooked at the wrong temperatures (too hot), because we've had perfect results every time. It doesn't taste like steamed anything, but like grilled food. And yes, it makes a mean panini sandwich!

This grill is well...

Very nice - but then there is the non stick finish
I received one of these for my birthday, approximately nine months ago. I specifically wanted this one because I have had positive experiences with their cookware.

This is one of the best you can buy in this price range. It has a generous size, and gets hot enough for many things. The plates are removable, a big plus. One reviewer correctly pointed out that this grill does not get hot enough to grill a steak satisfactorily -- which is quite true. I cooked chicken breasts, boneless pork chops, bratwurst and sandwiches and it worked great. It has a cheesy plastic slider locking mechanism to hold the top and bottom together that looks like it will break at some point. Otherwise, it has a very nice look and can be stored vertically.

Okay - here it is - the "but" as hinted in my title. After less than 16 uses the nonstick finish simply started coming off. I hand wash the plates with a sponge and was surprised to see this happening; it was simply sloughing off with...

Amazing product
I recently purchased this item from Amazon.com. I have wanted one for months (I have tried many others that were junk). When it finally arrived it had scratches on the top and a small dent in the front chrome. The handle was ill fitting and it was obvious that it was ground down to fit the right side. The plastic underpart had small chunks broken out of it. All of this was done BEFORE ever being packed. Typical Chinese quality! That said: The temperature and timer markings are small and hard to read. The knobs are kludgy and hard to grasp. HOWSOMEVER! It cooks just near perfectly. I am truly amazed at the non-stick coating; all you need is a little warm water and a few swipes with a sponge and the grills are perfectly clean. I have never seen a product like it before. I think they said the coating is made by GE. Would I recommend it: A qualified -- YES but the price should be somewhat lower. At least it isn't obscene like that Cusinart junk is. That is another story. This grill...

George Foreman GRP72CTB G-Broil Electric Nonstick Countertop Grill, Black

George Foreman GRP72CTB G-Broil Electric Nonstick Countertop Grill, Black

George Foreman GRP72CTB G-Broil Electric Nonstick Countertop Grill, Black
one of the easiest appliances to use and clean
We previously had a smaller george forman grill with a little blue dome on top for 'bun heating'. It was hard to fit food for 2 on it. Despite that, we pretty much wore it into the ground and decided to get a larger one, specifically this model because we desperately needed removable plates and the extra space.

I tend to use the GF grill when I'm eating home alone, because it's super easy to use and makes a fast dinner - throw your chicken on, make some cous cous and peas, and you've got the perfect meal(in my humble opinion). A sore spot was created by the old grill, because darn it, I just HATED cleaning it. and if I didn't clean it after each and every use, my boyfriend would mention it without fail. His pet peeve is that I didn't always clean it immediately, my pet peeve was that I had to clean it at all.

One thing I've heard is that it doesn't get as hot due to the removable plates. I would agree with this, but I don't really consider it a "con" of the...

Nice grill
The George Foreman CRP72CTB G-Broil Electric Nonstick Countertop Grill is fantastic. The food grilled on it always comes out nicely grilled and tender with no uneven cooking. Most cooking times are under 10 minutes which is great. Most of the grease from the food drips down into the drip tray so the food comes out moist and tender without being greasy.
The clean up is excellent. The plates are removable so it's easy to take them to the sink to be washed. The grill is really nonstick unlike other manufacturers who claim to have nonstick grilling surfaces that really aren't. Soap and water is all you need and charred food comes right off.
Since I have a small countertop and I never have enough room in which to work, I like that I'm able to clamp the top and bottom of the grill together and have it stand up. Therefore, as it's leaning up against the wall, it frees up counter space.

If the grill had a temperature adjustment setting and a larger grilling area, it would...

Love Removable Grills!
I had an older GF grill that was a pain to clean because the grill areas were not removable and I got tired of going through part of a roll of paper towels each time to get all the gunk off. This new one is a snap (literally)! There isn't a real need to put them in the dishwasher; just wash them down with some hot soapy water, rinse and dry, and they are good to go. It won't beat a grill outside but it does good on the kitchen counter!

The G-Broil's unique float and lock hinge, Safe Touch top housing, extended metal loop handle and superior design makes melting cheese and broiling fresh and frozen foods easier than ever. Snap handles allow for compact vertical storage and dishwasher safe

  • Electric grill with 72-square-inch cooking surface and 1-1/2-inch float-and-lock hinge
  • Temperature indicator light indicates plates are at grilling temperature; dishwasher-safe double nonstick-coated plates
  • Sloped design channels fat away from food and into drip tray; extended metal loop handle
  • Locking side latches for compact vertical storage; 2 drip trays and 2 spatulas included
  • Measures approximately 14-8/9 by 15-8/9 by 6-4/5 inches

George Foreman GRP106QPGR 360 Electric Nonstick Round-Shaped Grill with 5 Interchangeable Grill Plates, Red
Be careful....

not as good as earlier Foreman grills
I've used and loved Foreman grills for years. I had one of the first generation grills and then replaced it with one that had removable plates. This 360 version is my third Foreman grill, but it is by far the worst of the three, although there are still some good points to it.

The first and biggest problem is the temperature. It just doesn't get hot enough! Nothing gets brown and if you have to cook in batches, it will cool off so much by the second batch -- even if the green light is off -- that the food takes forever to cook. (The light goes on and off during cooking, on meaning it is heating and off meaning it has reached the correct temperature.) So far I have tried quesadillas with the quesadilla press plates and the tortilla never got brown and crispy. The grill plates were used a few times, once on fish which didn't get those attractive grill marks that previous Foreman grills would have imparted. I used the grill plates again on bacon-wrapped shrimp and had...

A grill, not an oven
I'm going to get all my all my gripes out of the way first. Several reviewers have already talked about the annoying sticker. I pulled mine off with my fingers and used Goo Gone to get the remainder.

The operating temperature of the grill varies widely. I used an infrared thermometer to measure the heat the grill produces. On "high" the temperature tops out around 450. But the temperature must drop by over 200 degrees before the grill cycles back on again. It's not unusual for modern appliances to have swings of 50 degrees or more, but 200 degrees is a lot. It explains why the grill seems slow at times. If you want your food to be done quickly, put it in the grill just as the green ready light goes off, when the grill is hottest. One good thing, the grill was uniform, never varying more than 20 to 30 degrees from edge to edge. No cold or hot spots.

The round shape and large size means that this grill takes a lot of room on your counter. When you try to...

Swissmar KF-77080 8-Person Stelvio Raclette Party Grill with Reversible Grill Top

Swissmar KF-77080 8-Person Stelvio Raclette Party Grill with Reversible Grill Top

Swissmar KF-77080 8-Person Stelvio Raclette Party Grill with Reversible Grill Top
Awesome Raclette Oven!
I am originally from Switzerland. We had some guests visiting over Christmas and New Year. The plan was to celebrate an American Christmas and the next day a Swiss Christmas. The raclette oven seemed like the best choice for the second event... Everyone loved it. We put all different kinds of meat on the top grill and melted cheese in the bottom part. Of course the traditional potatoes etc were served too. There was enough room for the 8 of us. It's great if you don't want to spend the whole night in the kitchen preparing the dinner and miss out on the fun. If you have a big table and you want to keep it in the middle you'll probably need to get an extension cord. Also, the oven smokes a little bit when you plug it in the first time! Make sure you'll do that before you serve dinner!

Muti-functional
The great thing about this Raclette maker is that is doubles as a griddle. I know Raclette is something I might make once a year for fun, but other wise would sit in my cabinet. With this model, just flip the top and you can make pancakes, eggs, crepes, whatever. Its really great and works well.

Real treat for the family
From the day it got here my family looked forward to the promise of Raclette. We are a Swiss household and love this grill, we can have Raclette every week! It is easy to clean and set up, ours works beautifully. If you'd like to experience a taste of Switzerland at home, this is the grill to buy. Its price is not so high as others, but it is well made.

Entertaining has never been so easy or so much fun. This elegant stainless steel Swissmar Raclette Party Grill features a non-stick reversible grill / crêpe top; ideal for grilling meats and veggies, and is perfect for grilling sandwiches, smooth side is perfect for eggs, pancakes and crêpes. Gift boxed with 8 heat-resistant spatulas and raclette dishes. Grill top, dishes and spatulas are dishwasher safe. Do not use steel wool, wire brushes or scouring detergents. Do not submerge base unit; do not use cooking sprays on grill top surface or raclette dishes. Gift box.

  • 1200-watt 8-person raclette party grill with variable heat control
  • Reversible non-stick top for grilling; flip over to cook eggs, pancakes, and crepes
  • Stay-cool handles; base wipes clean; dishwasher-safe parts

George Foreman GRP4EMB Black Evolve Grill with 2 Grill Plates, 1 Deep-Dish Bake Pan and 1 Cupcake and Muffin Pan Insert
George Foreman G4 grill
This is, in my opinion, the best of the George Foreman grills.

It functions perfectly. The removable plates lock into place fairly well and do not slide around very much. It is incredibly easy to clean even without removing the plates.

The adjustable temperature and timers make cooking a lot easier when you don't have to guess at the actual temperature, like you do with so many of the other George Foreman grills.

It is sturdy, well built, and is designed to last. It fits easily onto a countertop, and I have had no problems with it whatsoever.

The one quibble I have is that the Bistro Grill does not actually shut off after it has been turned on for use, even if you press the power button again. You have to unplug it to get it to stop heating, and this is apparently by design according to the manual. This is counter-intuitive, and definitely not the way it should work. Pressing the power button should be a toggle. Press once, it turns on...

WoW! Easy, high-quality materials, sleek!
I bought this grill as a replacement for a "Ready-Set-Go" that was a piece of junk that fell apart after only a couple of uses. I really liked having a counter-top grill though, so i thought I'd give this Foreman a try! WoW! Am I glad I did! Grilled some Maple/Dijon/BBQ Glazed Salmon the first night, and it came out better than when I use my professional outdoor grill. I love the interchangable grill, deepdish, and muffin grill plates. The kids loved the deep dish pizza too! Now, if I can get George to offer an omlet and tiny muffins plate like I had with the "Ready-set-Go" this thing would be perfect. It's easy to use, quick and easy to clean with the removable plates, and versatile. Bottom line: buy it! ...and enjoy!

More like DE-volve
First off- I'm convinced many of these reviews are fake. Any time someone writes an unsavory review some person comes along the day after to click "unhelpful" on it even though it has way more information on it than the 2 -3 sentance reviews that have no information but only say "It's great, I love it"- the end. Yet those useless 5 star reviews that say absolutely nothing about the product get thumbs up as helpful. I would come to read the reviews on this product for months before purchasing because I was on the fence before buying it and I'm not kidding when I tell you that virtually any review that had 3 stars or less almost IMMEDIATELY had been clicked unhelpful by someone as if this was being monitored in some way. there are a few too many reviews where this is the only product the reviewer has ever reviewed here on amazon too which is fishy to me. Anyhow, I just don't understand why what I'm about to mention here was only mentioned by a few of the reviewers so far. I'll sum...

Sporting a sleek, durable design, this electric countertop grill with removable plates provides 84 square inches of cooking surface for endless cooking options. Its four interchangeable plates (each with convenient snap handles) consist of two grill plates, one deep baking pan, and one muffin pan. Lay the grill completely flat for even cooking when making pancakes, waffles, and muffins or when cooking eggs and hash browns. The unit's patented sloped design also offers an optimal grilling angle of eight degrees, which allows fat and grease to drain off for healthier meals and reduced smoke when cooking bacon, burgers, and more. In addition, the grill's 1-inch floating hinge accommodates thicker foods like steaks and pork chops, while its George Tough triple-coated nonstick surface ensures lower fat cooking and effortless food release of even the most delicate foods. Other highlights include signature Foreman elements that heat up quickly and deliver even heat across the entire cooking surface, from the center all the way to the edges; user-friendly electronic controls with a digital display, variable temperature control, and a 20-minute timer with automatic preheat; and an easy-to-clean design--simply wash the removable plates in the sink with a sponge or load them into a dishwasher. Accessories include a unique spatula that fits perfectly on the plate for smooth food removal and a customized drip tray for quick cleanup. The grill measures approximately 17 by 10 by 7 inches and carries a two-year limited warranty.

George Foreman The Next Grilleration Grill, Black

George Foreman The Next Grilleration Grill, Black

George Foreman The Next Grilleration Grill, Black
Love this grill
I have had many George Foreman Grills, but this one is my favorite. Love the removeable plates, so easy to clean.

Easy to clean!
This is my 2nd George Foreman Grill. I've always liked the way the food cooks and tastes, but hated to clean the grill. I bought this particular grill because the plates come off and go in the dishwasher. I love this feature! The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because of the black stuff that comes off the grill when I dry it off.

What a mess
From the beginning, the underneath sides of both plates have had a nasty chalky, black residue. I didn't realize it until too late, after ruining a very nice dish towel when I first received the unit, directlly from George Foreman. Also have to scrub my fingers with a nylon scrub sponges to get the black off of my skin EVERY TIME I HANDLE THEM.

Then, after several uses, now the non-stick coating is peeling off of both plates. I have never used anything except a paper towel to clean them after soaking in warm water in the sink, prior to loading into the dishwasher. They have not been abused.

Called the company and they said the black chalky residue and peeling is abnormal. They said they would send new plates, however, the top plate is backordered for 6-8 weeks! Received the bottom plate today, and it has the same black chalky problem. So disappointed! Guess I'll go back to my Weber gas grill outside.

This george foreman classic plate grill serves 5. Its removable plates are dishwasher safe for easy cleaning along with the non-stick surface. The floating hinge accomodates a wide variety of foods.

  • Dishwasher safe removable plates
  • Floating hinge
  • Exclusive fat removing design
  • George tough nonstick coating

Swissmar KF-77081 8-Person Stelvio Raclette Party Grill with Granite Stone

Swissmar KF-77081 8-Person Stelvio Raclette Party Grill with Granite Stone
Raclette parties are fun--wish the cord were longer, though.
This Raclette Grill has the granite stone top, and it is a lot easier to clean and more elegant for parties. Note: if you are vegetarian though not vegan, you can grill your cheese below and use Boca type veggie sausages, marinated tofu and vegetables on top for a very decent, meatless raclette. The stone lets you grill any of these items. After it cools, clean-up is quite simple. If you are serious about this, and want a party, the 8-person oblong set plus stone is a wonderful way to do this.

The cord is too short on this unit. You need a pretty decent extension cord if your table is not near a counter-height outlet, as the cord isn't so long. The extension cord should be able to handle the voltage requirements as this element draws a lot of power as it heats up. The shape is rectangular, so this doesn't work so well for round tables; there are raclettes that are shaped for round tables but they don't come with granite tops.

There are grills with teflon tops,...

Raclette with easy cleanup
This raclette grill is great. Cleanup of the granite is easy, just let it cool first. Another reviewer said to let it go overnight, but I've found leaving it for 2 hours is plenty of time for it to cool. The granite is not reversible and does have a ridge on the edge to catch any juices from the meat (or whatever you're making).

While I may not be a raclette expert, I got referred to this grill by a Swiss friend. We both love it.

Entertaining is fun with this grill. I would suggest that you have 1 grill for every 4 people, rather than the 8 that the specs suggest. It can be a long night if everyone only has 1 cheese tray.

Swissmar Raclette Rocks!
This is the second raclette i've owned and this one far exceeded my expectations! The stone is solid with a small drain that goes completely around it to capture the juice from meats and is extremely easy to clean after it's cooled down. The dishes are teflon coated and the front is slightly angled to slide your food unto your plate. Excellent for entertaining family and friends with a variety for all to chose from; beef, chicken, shrimp, turkey and vegetables. More fun than a fondue!

Memorable dinner parties are easy with this elegant stainless steel Swissmar Raclette with authentic Swiss style granite stone grill top. Perfect for grilling meats, seafood, veggies on top while melting your favorite cheeses in the individual raclette dishes underneath. Dishes may also be used to prepare and cook personalized dishes. Gift boxed with 8 heat-resistant spatulas and raclette dishes. Also included is a FREE Raclette Recipe Book. Hot stone, dishes and spatulas are dishwasher safe; wipe base unit with soft damp cloth and pat dry. Do not use steel wool, wire brushes or scouring detergents. Do not submerge base unit; do not use cooking sprays on grill top surface or raclette dishes.

  • 1200-watt 8-person raclette party grill with variable heat control
  • Granite-stone grill top for meat, veggies, eggs, pancakes, crepes, and more
  • Stay-cool handles; base wipes clean; dishwasher-safe parts
  • Includes gift box with recipe book and 8 spatulas and raclette dishes

Cuisinart GR-4N 5-in-1 Griddler

Cuisinart GR-4N 5-in-1 Griddler

Cuisinart GR-4N 5-in-1 Griddler
Cuisinart upgraded the Griddler, and it's better than ever
I bought a G4 Griddler from Amazon in 2005, and used it a couple of times a week (at least) until it had to be put out to pasture in 2010 due to failure of the non-stick coating on the plates. (The coating started to bubble and peel, and no one wants that in their food...) I loved it. (See my review of the Cuisinart GR-4 Griddler Stainless-Steel 4-in-1 Grill/Griddle and Panini Press) It was still working great, but replacement plates were not available.

I was elated when offered the opportunity to review its smarter younger brother, the GR-4NAM Griddler. I could hardly wait for it to get here and run it through its paces.

At first glance, the GR-4NAM looks virtually identical to the G4. However, closer inspection reveals that it has been totally redesigned, and for the better.

Improvement: The grease catcher used to be a little cup that had to be set under a spout on the side of the bottom plate. If it was positioned incorrectly, (or forgotten...

best indoor grill so far
I have tried the Villaware Uni panini grill, the Delonghi open countertop grill and another panini type grill (approx $90), and returned them all (ouch, those return shipping charges hurt). I never considered the Geroge Foreman grills because they always felt cheaply made to me, not to mention many unfavorable reviews).

None of the grills/panini presses that I tried got hot enough to work well for me. They just did not grill as much as steam, bake cook the food, and they all took a longer time to do so than I was willing to wait.

I never was bothered by cleanup, though. I always just wipe the hot plates with wet paper towel, let it then cool a bit, and wash with wet sponge. Works on them all.

So I just gave up and bought some stovetop grill pans and have used them for the past year or so. They do get as hot as you want but you do have to turn the food to cook both sides.

Being a kitchen appliance junkie, I decided to try the Cuisinart...

Great idea, poor implementation
We have had this product for over 1 year. This product has a few of great features:

1. The interchangeable nonstick plates that are dishwasher safe.
2. The unit opens up to a large griddle.
3. The cooking plates are dishwasher safe.

However, the nonstick surface has started peeling off of the plates even though the plates have never been abused, and we have never used metal utensils on them.

Our biggest complaint is the thermostat. The unit will reach the desired temperature, and then turn off. The cooking plates will actually cool off so much that the food will stop cooking. The thermostat will then kick back on and take about 3-5 minutes to get back up to temperature. It is very annoying, and doesn't always produce good results with food.

There also is a large temperature difference between the two plates when the unit is opened as a large griddle. This causes items being cooked to finish at different times...

Cuisinart

Compact in size but big in features, Cuisinart's countertop Griddler offers five-in-one functionality as a contact grill, panini press, full grill, full griddle, and half grill/half griddle. The stylish brushed stainless-steel housing looks sleek and modern in the kitchen and features a wide panini-style handle and a hinged floating cover that adjusts to various food thicknesses. On the base, two temperature controls and a function selector are clearly marked and have indicator lights for quick reference and accurate, no-guesswork operation. Open the cover and customize the cooking surface with removable and reversible nonstick grill and griddle plates that snap in and out easily and drain grease to an integrated drip tray for healthier cooking. The Griddler also comes with gourmet recipes and a cleaning scraper tool. The cooking plates, drip tray, and scraper all go safely into the dishwasher. Limited three-year warranty.

The Cuisinart Griddler is actually five appliances in one. A hinged, floating cover and one set of removable and reversible cooking plates turn the Griddler into a contact grill, panini press, full grill, full griddle, or half grill/half griddle. Dual temperature controls and indicator lights make this product easy to use. Dishwasher-safe plates, integrated drip tray and a cleaning/scraping tool make cleanup fast and easy.

The Griddler's Many Uses

Cuisinart
Cuisinart

Contact Grill
Use the Griddler as a contact grill to cook burgers, boneless pieces of meat and thin cuts of meat and vegetables. The contact grill function works best when you want to cook something in a short amount of time or when you are looking for a healthy method of grilling. When cooked on the contact grill, food will cook quickly because you are grilling both sides of the food at the same time. The ribs on the grill side of the plates, combined with the grease spout at the rear of the plate, allow the grease to drip from the meat and drain off the plates. When the Griddler is used as a contact grill, the grill side of plates is recommended. Rest the cover evenly on top of the food until it has reached the desired cooked temperature. The Griddler was designed with a unique handle and hinge that allow the cover to adjust to the thickness of the food. You can easily grill anything from a thinly sliced potato to a thick sirloin steak with even results. When cooking more than one food item in the contact grill, it is important that the thickness of food items is consistent so the cover will close evenly on the food.

Panini Press
Use the Griddler as a panini press to grill sandwiches, breads, and quesadillas. The sandwich is pressed between two grill or griddle plates to toast the bread and warm the sandwich. We recommend using fresh-baked bread to produce the best tasting panini. When the Griddler is used as a panini press, the grill side of the plates is recommended. We recommend the grill side of the plates because traditional style panini sandwiches have grill marks on the bread. However, depending upon the type of sandwich you are preparing, you may wish to use the griddle side of the plates or any combination of the two. The Griddler functions as a panini press in the same manner that it functions as a contact grill. The Griddler was designed with a unique handle and hinge that allow the cover to adjust to the thickness of the sandwich you are preparing, and to rest there evenly. Light pressure can be applied to the handle to press and heat the sandwich to your liking.

Full Grill
Use the Griddler as a full grill to cook burgers, steak, poultry (we do not recommend cooking bone-in chicken, since it does not cook evenly on a full grill), fish, and vegetables. Full grill refers to using the Griddler with the cover lying flat, creating a double, flat cooking surface. In this position, the foods you are grilling will have to be turned over for cooking. When the Griddler is used as a full grill, the grill side of the plates should be used. Cooking on the full grill is the most versatile method of using the Griddler. With the full grill, you have double the surface area (200 square inches) for grilling. You have the option of cooking different types of foods on separate plates without combining their flavors, or cooking large amounts of the same type of food. The full grill also accommodates different cuts of meats with varying thickness, allowing you to cook each piece to your liking.

Full Griddle
Use the Griddle as a full griddle to cook pancakes, eggs, French toast, hash browns, and breakfast meats. When you use the Griddler as a full griddle, open the cover so it lies flat, creating a double, flat cooking surface. In this position, the foods you are preparing will have to be turned over for cooking. When using this cooking function, the griddle side of the plates should be used. Cooking on the full griddle is a wonderful way to prepare breakfast for two or for a large family. The large surface area allows you to cook a variety of different foods at the same time, or large amounts of your favorite food.

Half Grill/Half Griddle
Use the Griddler as a half grill/half griddle in order to create full meals like bacon and eggs or steak and potatoes at the same time. When using the Griddler as a half grill/half griddle, simply place the unit in the flat position and insert one plate with the grill side facing up and another plate with the griddle side facing up. This cooking option allows you to use either the grill/panini temperature or the griddle temperature selector.

To Insert Cooking Plates

Adjust the Griddler to the flat position with the controls directly in front of you. Insert one plate at a time. Each plate is designed to fit in either the upper housing or the lower housing of the Griddler. If you are facing the Griddler, the drip spout should be at the rear of the plate. Locate the metal brackets at the center of the housing. Tilt the back end of the plate and line up the cutouts at the back of the plate with metal brackets. Slide the plate underneath the brackets and push down the front end of the plate. It will snap into place. Turn the Griddler around and insert the second plate on either its grill or griddle side into the upper housing as you did with the first plate.

George Foreman GRP99 Next Generation Grill with Nonstick Removable Plates

George Foreman GRP99 Next Generation Grill with Nonstick Removable Plates

George Foreman GRP99 Next Generation Grill with Nonstick Removable Plates
Worth some hassles, but be aware of them first!
Summary: a good grill with quirks that get in the way of it being great. It's a huge improvement for cleaning, and it has a nicely-sized 4-burger grill plate. It doesn't get quite as hot as the "old-style" models, and if you don't learn its quirks you can ruin perfectly good meals.

Overview

I had an "old style" Foreman grill, one of the smaller ones with permanently attached plates, for years. I loved it - especially how you could get the grill scary hot and get some great crusts on grilled meats. But man, I hated cleaning it!

Eventually, it died, and I wanted something that answered my two biggest complaints: small size of the cooking service, and something that was easier to clean! This grill looked like the answer.

Bottom line: I *want* to love it, I really do! And it does answer my two biggest complaints, so I'm continuing to use it, but it has a couple of quirks that keep me from loving it. So close! But here's my experience...

The best indoor grill unit!
I have been through several previous Foreman grills, Hamiton Beach, DeLongi, etc.

This is the best indoor grill, bar none.

The timer is wonderful.

The heat control is very accurate.

I just made a grocery store standard porterhouse (.75 inch not a huge one) at 425 degrees and it came out with caremelized marks and perfect doneness. Follow the charts and subtract about half a minute at this temperature.

I am one happy camper...clean up is a breeze in the dishwasher.

Bravo to Salton.

Best George Foreman Grill Yet
I had an older model and used it from time to time, but always felt it never really got clean. This new version with the removable grilling plates was what I was waiting for. Both grill plates come off for easy cleaning in the sink. I washed mine in the dishwasher once too - both ways works great.

Also having the temperature settings and timer makes it easy to cook your food fast. I've done steaks, chicken, fish and hamburgers and all have come out great!
