Kitchenaid KUDS30IXSS Superba Series Dishwasher
Works, but not as well as the older model
After 11 years of service, our KitchenAid dishwasher finally gave up the ghost As is common for this equipment, it was the electronics that failed her. Having been quite happy with the old girl, we did our internet research, talked to some friends with other brands and then purchased the KitchenAid Superba Series Full Console Dishwasher in Stainless Steel. We selected it, because we liked the built in grinder (garbage disposal... no emptying food traps) which we also had on our old machine and the heated drying (which is now often not available on other models as it reduces the overall energy rating.)
The new machine seems to be a bit roomier than the last, and its design has had a few small improvements. It cleans dishes excellently, as did our old model. It's about as noisy as the machine we had previously, but that doesn't bother us much even with our great room and kitchen closeby. You really don't hear it much when watching the TV, except when it drains. The new...
It cleans GREAT and it is very quiet!
We bought this Kitchenaid KUDS30IXSS to replace our old Kenmore that broke down. We searched and looked around all the available models in Kitchenaid and the competition. We decided on this model because it had the built in hard food disposer, the possibility to dry with or without heat, the whisper quiet feature, energy star qualification, and the stainless steel tub.
I didn't want to write a review immediately after we bought it (even though I was extremely happy the moment I started using it). I wanted to give a review that would be helpful after months of using it. Well, it is now the time to do it, after 8 months of having it I can say I am VERY happy with its performance, it cleans all my dishes perfectly. When I leave baked-on food on Pyrex, I utilize the Pro-scrub option and everything comes out shinny and clean! It truly is very quiet, our family room is right next to the kitchen (open plan) and we can start the dishwasher right after dinner and sit to watch TV...
Very poor cleaning
I purchased this dishwasher in March of 2011 so have been using it less than two months. I am returning it. It does not clean very well. Silverware will have food on it; wine glasses are shockingly dirty! Filmy, inside and out; I don't recall ever having seen this before. Dishes have also been dirty. I followed the instructions for which clean cycle to select, detergent, scraped or not scraped (I scrape or rinse first) and no luck. The silverware containers are difficult to deal with. It is quiet, I will say that. As other reviewers have pointed out, you can brush against the panel it will turn on if you managed to also touchthe start button. I am very disappointed as I was so looking forward to it and now have to be faced with the time consuming effort of returning it. What to buy? What works? Help!
The ProScrub ® Option is an ideal solution for casserole dishes and other large platters that require concentrated cleaning of carmelized or baked-on messes. The wash system delivers better results (combined wash and dry results of leading premium brands' highest MSRP models; dry testing conducted without rinse aid).
- The ProScrub(R) Option helps eliminate soaking or pre-scrubbing by removing stubborn messes like seared or baked-on foods.
- The full stainless steel tub resists streaks, stains, and odors while providing optimum heat transfer for exceptional drying.
- The Heat Dry option delivers faster and more complete drying by activating a recessed heating element during the drying cycle.
- Fold-down tines in the lower rack improve cleaning performance by keeping tines out of the way, allowing water to clean inside deep or wide dishes.
- Premium adjusters make it easy to raise or lower the upper rack for optimal loading space, and the SatinGlide(R) System allows the rack to move almost effortlessly.
